OK well I got into this Saturday. The gutter straitening part is dead simple; however the dint in the side of the car is not... The most effective method I found to get it to where it is, was to clamp the vice grips onto the gutter, and hang off the car slowly pulling the body out. However its still not straight enough





You can see it clearly in both the "after" pictures. Any one got any suggestions on getting it out further? (remembering its a double panel behind where the dint is).

Maybe you could make a clamp about 100mm long that bolts together and encompasses the gutter to which you could attach a slide hammer and pull it out? Or make it a soft top...did I just type that aloud?

X2 slide hammer is what is needed

I think I'm going to have to organise a tintop only run sometime...and all you angle grinder happy soft top drivers can bite me!

that's a top effort, what did you use?

2x hardened metal bars 1cm x 1cm x 20cm long to fit in the gutter, a pair of vice grips, and a hammer for the stubborn bits

guters look great, i will be using the same sort of thing for mine when i do them.

Highway stars are a bit more of a problem as they involve the roof section being dented aswell.

I'd be happy with that too Che guitarra, nice effort. Highway-star knows I'm only joking about "the chop". Different chopping a rustbucket or beat up beyond repair tintop but it'd be a shame ruining a saveable H.T only to create some kind of wannabe soft top.
