last weekend i started my rear bar build as per my members page.I got a piece of 3mm folded to a 125x75 channel.
45d off ends and capped them
Image
Image
lights of choice plus a 55w spotty i had lying around for reverse
Image
sleeved rear crossmember with some 32NB medium wall and 45d it to support sides of bar
Image
Image
cut to shape of wheel arch
Image
100x50x2 RHS split in half to sink lights in behind bar and a 55W spotty for reverse light wired to a 30A relay mounted in bar also
Image
Image
this tab picks up a nut welded inside the 65x65 RHS hitch using a 1/2" UNC bolt to help take some load
Image
on car and painted.Lights work well and reverse spotty is nice and bright also
Image

40x5 mounts to the top using rear body mounts and 8.8 m10 bolts
100x6 angle mounts at bottom with gussets using 4 1/2"unc bolts to standard towbar mounts
40x6 flat at receiver hitch using 1 1/2" unc bolt
sleeved xmember with 32NB medium wall pipe.
Hopefully it will be better that the old bar.Number plate will go on rear door and FUEL TANK SKID next :)

Have to have a closer look over your zuk one day to get some ideas for mine. Gotta make a new rear bar to replace the 40mm RHS 'thing' i knocked up for rego, need something strong enough to swing the spare from.

Hope to (or need to more to the point) have it regoed next week :D

Definately looks the part mate 8) Not sure how hard you are on your stuff but just be careful if you drop the backend off any rock steps or the like. My 3mm sliders have several dents in them where I have dropped and slid it on rocks or logs.

thanks mate, yeah the 3mm is probly gonna be a bit light for some situations but ill live with it.Its a bar,its steel, its matt black and im gonna use it  .If it cops a dent so be it,but in saying that the standard arrangement didnt get any worse in the time i owned it so i should be right.

Plan on moving both diffs an inch or so anyway so it will all help.

Very nice, All these rear bars lately are inspiring me to get of my behind and make one. Did you weld the sleeved tube to the side of the bar once on? or did you make up a plate etc to bolt it on, or is it just tacked? I liked this idea for side support as thats where my standard bar has copped a hammering. Also any mor pics of the hitch with the bolt arrangement?

Post subject:  Re: appsies rear bar with pics

i have no more pics and work from sunup to down most days but will try my hardest to get under there and get some
The pipe was only tacked as i didnt see the need to really weld it,its a tight fit and was tapped in by a hammer as it was.
THANKS mate

and yeah i have been planning one for 2 years when i mounted the cage, then saw the other blokes having a go and that got me into gear
