i'm crrently working on a conversion to fit an air locker to the front of a coily. once all goes well i will have the kit up for sale, so all of those with coilys can join the rest of us.

BUT, i do have the initial version here, fitted with a second hand air locker for sale. those that are interested, and not tyre kickers, pm me for a price as i need to recoup costs right away.

i'll add pics as it comes along.

yep, got it.

if the mods wish to move this to tech feel free. might be better there.

ok, all has gone well.

the jimny diff is narrower than a 1.3, so there was a fair bit of nutting out. the coily is an odd-ball, just like the rest of the vehicle. its front diff is 1.3 width, uses the bearings of a jimny/1 litre and has a smaller crown wheel than a 1.3.

Image

Image
as the above pics show i had to make spacers to compensate for the wider housing. 8mm to the non crownwheel side and 5mm on the crownwheel side. this will not affect the operation of the diff.

Image
once that is done a new and bigger problem comes up, the seal housing will not fit like it should..........more modding to be done.

Image
in this pic you will see the adjuster nut on the bottom which has been extensively machined down to give me the right fit for the seal housing. this modified nut will still apply more torque befor failing than a standard adjuster in an alloy front, so do not be too concerned. above it it the seal housing locking ring which also had to be machined down so the locking nut can pre-load the bearing correctly and still be able to rotate the locking ring when fitting the seal housing.

Image
once the diff side of things is taken care off the seal housing line will interfere with the bearing cap. mark the position and machine a groove as shown and all will be well.

Image
here we have the seal housing fitting as it should. looks neat too.

Image
once all was tightened backlash and pattern was checked.....as can be seen all is well.

its a fiddly job but can be done. just remember if buying a coily it will be more pricey to do these conversions.

Sure, but now Coily drivers will be able to get that much further off road, before they have to wait for the leafy heros to rescue them....

Neat build, Joe.

My own....ahhhemm.....Locker will be announced second half of this year. Doing Patent paperwork past month.

It is air operated and nothing like what is currently on the market. It is that simple it aint funny. Kenny has been out testing with me and he gives it the thumbs up. There are also some other benefits which I can't go into as of yet due to legal stuff....

It is not designed for that type of stuff but I'm willing to have a crack.

Trying to keep target price for a zook diff at $600-650.

I knew it, it is coily porn haha, $600 is bang on the money as its roughly half way between an arb option and an auto locker option.
Im glad i re-earthed this thread . You guys can thank me later.

Hang on, hang on. No need to go getting on knees.

1L/LJ/Grand Vitara will virtually be all very similar funnily enough. At the moment I have a working early model rear Vit on the shelf (after being tested in the yellow thing). The Sierra rear has been drawn up and ready for prototyping. This will also be the base for the previously mentioned vehicles. Trust me, when the paperwork and approval are complete, and I can show images, it will all make sense.

Tanshi, I think this thing will go fine in your comp car.
As for the NGV that might require my diff being pulled out to have a look.
