Gave Phil his modified maruti cab and roof back today ( he wanted the back of the cab made square to give him more space inside the cab). also picked up another canopy off him to make a mold off. this one is a full sierra canopy. If anyone is interested in a maruti cab, roof or sierra canopy let me know. i dont mind posting interstate either (; working out prices for the maruti cab and roof at the moment...

A fibreglass copy of a genuine Suzuki poly hardtop would be awesome. They actually fit the car properly.

Yeah, the duster style, would be a nice addition to the flexiglass shell. Leave the front section on and turn the zook into a shorty maruti.
Heres another thought for ya.. A 2 piece hard top front section, that can be folded or stacked in the back of a zook. I leave the rear section off all the time, but leave the front section on for sun protection. Sometimes though, like night time on a hot day, I'd be good to take the front part off and stow it in the back, behind the folded up seats.
Oh thats a point. A maruti duster back, would need to allow for rear seats that are folded up, so either the shell needs to extend past the seats, stop above the seats, or fit between the front seats and the folded seats....

^^ Wouldn't it be easier to just remove the rear seats?

That would be such a great idea! If I even had seats.
If a shell can be made that permits the seats to be left in, why not?
It may be impossible to do a decent duster trying to allow for the seats, but one should consider it, nonetheless.

What do you mean by duster style ? I like the idea of a two piece hard top front section. Ill give it a go later down the track when i have all the other parts up and going

Actually, I thought the duster was the enclosing of the rear of the "cab", but google says its a Tonneau cover. So, ignore the Duster and insert "The Maruti cab rear...."

ive had the last 2 days off work so ive been able to make some progress on my own canopy. its a rallytop style for my vitara. to start with i made a "plug" out of some scrap mdf i had laying around.... for those that dont know, a plug is what you make before you make a fibreglass mold. the plug is an exact replica of how you want the finished part to look. the mold is then made off the plug. next up i sprayed the plug with some acrylic primer filler from supercheap. this fills up any small cracks, scratches or marks in the mdf plug so that the mold comes out with a nice smooth finish. I decided to make the mold in 2 pieces. the back window surround and the tray cover. the molds... i then made the fibreglass part in my mold. i used "tropical blue" colour gelcoat that i had left over from my project boat. not sure what colour ill eventually paint the canopy but the gelcoat will help waterproof and protect it. this gives you an idea of how they will look when setup on the vitara. next thing to do is make a lid to go in the empty space. ill hopefully get a photo of it on the vitara on the weekend to get a better idea of how it will look. Cheers!
