Aside from the bickering and GraphicX wrote: well beyond making just_cruizin look like just_a_goose *tongue in cheek* But GraphicX wrote: btw not trying to make anyone look like a goose or anything of the sort. What I find most concerning is that anyone listens to the garbage that gets put on the Jimny Facebook pages

I actually went and joined that group and sought out the thread in question and it is hardly anyone getting reamed; moreso a few people with their knickers in a knot at the very worst: Tanshi suggested the design, while cheap, was flawed. People pointed out that it was totally cheap though. He agreed it was cheap and encouraged people making things themselves but still said it could be improved. People mentioned how cheap it was and that something something cheap cheap. Tanshi said he agreed it was cheap, but said it would be remiss of him to not point out the shortcomings. Something something, did you notice this one is cheaper than the ones tanshi sells something something.
Long story short, apparently tanshi was reamed because he thought something could be made better and other people thought it didn't matter because it was cheap and acted like he was being a dick for not just automatically posting how OMG LIKE TOTES AWESOME it was.
I'll have a little dash of storm in my teacup, thanks.

Now that im sitting at my desk at 6am waiting for sparkies to turn up and not on my phone trying to watch my Broncoes drill the knights i'll comment further.
You seem to think that im getting allup in your undercarriage because of some ulterior motive for me to sell some shit.
if you actually read anything that I have actually said rather than assuming im shitting on your ideas and your right to build your own stuff you would know that it said.
*build your own stuff, that's how innovation happens *just build it right, its gonna bend unless you add some bracing to the corners *grinding off the welds isn't a great idea, if and when they break they are a sharp edge and can puncture your transfer case.

The trouble with plate style ones in the nt is the copious amount of fluffy grass seeds we have very quickly become a fire risk. I think the $20 guard is a good solution to preventing build up of crap while still providing protection to the vulnerable bits of a jimny transfer.

GraphicX, I won't get into the name calling thing as it doesn't prove anything.
Tanshi and I have both just tried to help improve your guard. Sure if you're that passionate about it it may sound like we're shit canning it but that's not what we're doing. I won't try and assume your knowledge of engineering mechanics (not the fixing car type) but as Tanshi and I both allude to your design will flex at the bends, with some bracing it will become a lot more rigid.
Whatever though , good on you for getting out there and making something for yourself.

Does anyone have a rough sketch of this transfer protection dimensions?
Got some 3mm mild steel and a simmering MIG ready to roll

Seems like only yesterday someone decided to change physics and material properties. Probably more details on the Bigjimny site mentioned.
But what would I know, I'm Just_Goosing

Got some 3mm mild steel and a simmering MIG ready to roll sorry mate, no dimensions, i used masking tape & strips of cardboard cut at the same width as the flat bar i used to create a template.
