I thought i better try bring some kind of tech?
I put a minispool in the X90 on the weekend, (with the assistance of nissvit)
I got a couple of them from Lowrange, general minispools for Sierra/Vitara/X90, ordered and all arrived ok within 2 weeks so that was good, got a few stickers in there too, should be good for holding loose panels on.
Welp, it seems that my X90 rear diff is different to every other one out there because the minispool didn't fit. We had to grind down the minispool. No, there was no way it was going just bang in with a hammer. I stuck the verniers on there and it would have to be 0.3mm difference, so the side gears slip in easily, where he minispool had no chance of fitting. anyways.. here's some arty farty pics for effect...

It's hard to take photos of myself doing it. I think we do a fair it of work equally. We share the load and costs. If you can hook up with someone and share work and costs it makes for a good team.

With a good hold on the file, whats the problem?
A file won't work going the other way.. Bit like a hacksaw.
Good work. More good info on auszookers

PS. The file hardy did anything, so Chris tried to use the lathe bits (what ever they're called i can't remember) ,but they went blunt straight away, so the minispool is pretty hard stuff. He ended up using a grinder to grind it on the lathe and then the file was to smooth it off.

its about the only option with a file on the lathe taking off sharp edges or rounding off corners. Yes a handle on them is a great idea.
ive had a couple have a little grab but if you are aware at all times on the lathe things normally go fairly smooth.Just dont put stupid pressure on it also.
Carbides FTW allthough at home i guess people dont wanna spend the coin at times.

I don't suppose you have a photo of it just before re-installation?
And did it come with full destructions on how to install it?

put the 2nd & 4th photo's together & that's pretty much how it would look.
i wonder if there is a difference between the 10 & 12 bolt carriers & that is why it needed machining.
SiKiD is running one in the rear of his LWB, not sure if it's 10 or 12 bolt though.

yer i thought it was weird that it didn't fit and thought mine must be different to normal.

It's pretty easy, open the diff up and take everything out. To get the big pins out you need to tap out the little pins that go through the big pins, very technical terms there.
pics help...

Is the X-90 diff similar/same as a Vit/GV? Or is it some oddball one, hence no fit?
