Shock bushes?

Rubber. They rarely wear out.

Someone found the 'poll' option on the new post page, and had to figure out a useless topic to poll.

Have had poly in one of my cars for over 10 years and still fine. So rubber must be the only way to go :thefinger:

So what are the advantages of poly for a shock bush then Bruce?

I am a big fan of your soft poly spring bushes, it's just that I don't think it really matters for a shock bush.

Topping or bottoming the shocks out will split any bush - could be an issue?

Nothing. You just say that rubber is the end of the story. I say that I have had poly for 10+ years and they are still good. I just get so pissed off that people say rubber are better or poly is better. As stated before in another post, rubber is bloody good in some things but not everything.
If poly is so good why are we not driving on poly tyres  Because rubber is wayyyyyyyyy better.

Post subject:  Re: Shock bushes...poly or rubber ?

Is that relevant though? You've just said there's no advantage to poly over rubber for a shock bush, so aren't you just confusing a simple question with a whole lot of baggage?

I never claimed I was anti poly, I endorsed your bushes, and asked why poly would be superior for a shock bush (and apparently it's not?)

I too have run poly shock bushes for years without a problem, because that's what the shocks came with. I wouldn't bother swapping from one material to the other, because, like you, I don't think, in a shock, it makes any worthwhile difference.

So, in fact, my response should have been replace what was in there with what came out, because it doesn't really matter what shock bush material is used.

And my responce is that you say and I quote, " And there's your answer." Unquote. So you are saying that rubber is the only answer?

I agree that there is no diff in poly or rubber in a shock bush but to say "And there's your answer." to me is not right either.
:-) All good Steve.

Post subject:  Re: Shock bushes...poly or rubber ?

poly bushes can be made stiffer so the shocks will work more making the suspension nicer

Probably never going to notice the difference on a 4wd though and with Suzukis awesome shock alignment probably snap the diff in half or something
