Post subject:  Can anyone recommend a shop to replace bushes?

Hi all,

the rear suspension bushes in my coily are cracked and need to be replaced.

Is there a guide on this forum on how to replace the bushes? or as a 'massive n00b' am I better of taking my car to a shop to get it sorted?

While I was there, i thought I might as well replace all of them. From what I've found searching, 'Bruce's bushes' are the way to go?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Scott

Does Bruce do coily bushes???

Removing the OEM bushes cat be a right PITA. They have a press fit metal sleeve bonded to the rubber, which can be VERY hard to remove.

I usually burn the rubber out (oxy) leaving just the steel sleeve in place, then cut the sleeve with a hacksaw, or pnuematic chisel.

So I gotta take the car to get the bushes replaced, any recommendations?

I've tried 2 shops so for a have been quoted $350 and $230 (for 2 bushes)

I'm at Caboolture, so northside of Brissy would be preferable.

Try Caboolture Exhaust for a price. They do all sorts of work.

Thats not a bad price then, $230 - $105 =$125 for labour, it has got to take a couple of hours by the time you take the arms out, press or burn bushes out, fit new ones and then put the arms back in the car.

X2. Prick of a job, so its easily worth $120 labour.

got quoted $330 for all 6 rear bushes to be replaced by Caboolture Exhaust and the bloke said he'll fix my leaky transfer case while he's there. Very impressed.

Thanks for the tip Bruce! I don't think this will be the last time I visit this shop
