buying a 1.3 sj70 nt chassis to get the transfer and other bits to into my coily. Do the wt and nt transfers have similar shaped cases i.e will aftermarket mounting arms and cradles, work on the nt ?. and from what i have read, reduction gears work in the nt you just have to grind the cases a bit more.

WT have a hand brake on rear wheels,
NT have hand brake drum on rear of the case.
But basically the same shape.

Cases are identicle. Gears fit exactly the same in both cases.

HOWEVER...

The WT case will have the same flanges as your coily case, so it will match your front and rear driveshafts.
Also, it will work with your handbrake cable.

And FYI, SJ70's are WT, not NT.

Coily transfer flanges are same bolt pattern as WT but don't interchange.

You'd be better off finding a WT transfer otherwise you'll have to buy three WT flanges to fit to the NT case.

And you will need a WT Sierra front tail shaft and Jack shaft because the WT or NT transfers are thicker than a coily transfer so your shafts end up too long.

Strange shock towers

rear springs look like they are sitting at NT spacing.

but those flanges look like WT pattern

Could be an 88 89 bitsa

ill find out soon if it works or not. seemed to be nice and tight internally and the rims and 31's will come in handy for the gaurd chop.

I see:

Ok cool might be able to use the front diff as well for the coily not bad for $50

No mate the only difference in the 88.5 is the ratio of the diff other than that they are the same as any WT.

I reckon those are NT housing in a WT chassis, the reason why I say it is a WT chassis is the bump stop brackets are a give away they are different to a NT.

The reason I think NT housings is that where you can clearly see the bump stop on the passenger side it is going to contact the diff housing in the wrong place, on a WT housing it would not contact the diff on the weldline where the nuckle starts. Someone has made those squared off shock towers to bring the shock closer to the chassis for the NT housings because a WT tower is further out. You can see that on the drivers side of the housing the U bolts are on the edge of the pumpkin anyone who has done a WT/NT conversion will know that is NT position not WT position. Also where the rear of the front spring mounts the mount in the pic overlaps the inside edge of the chassis like a NT, a WT is further under the chassis and definately does not overlap the inside edge, from memory 20mm further under away rom the edge.

he transfer case has no handbrake and the rear diff does appear to have WT handbrake cables on the housing, however like Tanshi says it has NT spring spacing at rear under the chassis not outside the chassis, the rear shock angle is too steep because the bottom shock mounts are at NT position and the top are at WT position and finally the WT rear bumpstop outriggers have been cut back because they would just about touch the wheels with that NT housing in there.

I may have missed some other obvious stuff so lease add to this if you see other stuff.

Rear diff also has 2 brake flexi line holders... NT had them. WT didn't.

This is a bitsa but without more pics hard to say exactly what is going on.

Yh i was thinking maybe someone has changed a wt to nt spacing, but diffs as well wtf haha. I think this might have been a backyard project, ooh we fucked a diff hey ive got some we'll make em fit.
