Post subject:  Blank canvas-What would you do (Suspension and tyres)

Hey guys,

Been reading and reading and reading on here but still thought i would chuck this question up to get a few more opinions.

Got at 84 NT thats stock as a rock and i want to set it up for some med to hard off roading and touring. It drives me to work everyday so i dont want massive cop bait and i would like it to keep some form of stability  I used to own a huge patrol with 35's and twin lockers etc and that was a bit big for a daily. Looked awesome though and spanked off road.

Its copping a 16b conversion in the new year but i dont want the tyre size to rob too much power, i like my cars to be somewhat zippy. I would prefer if possible to not do a body lift, i have no dramas doing some light hammering work and bump stop extension etc to get it to work.

Im thinking of 30's or 31's, on my last zook i had 235/75 and i think this time i would like to go a little bigger.

What would be best the route for lift to fit the above?? What would you do??

Cheers

Are you willing to regear to suit the new tyres?

Absolutely. I will be re gearing for sure.

Gears and lockers were also on my list

I think 30x9.5 looks neat and shouldnt attract to much unwanted attention..
i think 10.5 wide tyres start to look a little wide if your trying to go under the radar

Check out a few build threads for some ideas

RUF...

Well thats what im thinking. RUF for comfort and articulation. 2" lifted springs either OME or EFS. Shackles but i have decided on either a 1" shackle ift or 2".

Im also thinking as it will beused as a daily that 30's will be better than 31's.. Do 30/9.5 run on 15x7's??

What would be ther best offset for the rim on a standard narrow track

Cheers

Consider a WT/NT conversion with RUF it is a great option.

I really wanted to stick with NT at the moment. WT down the track but a few years down the track

You should be ok with 30s x9.5s on the NT diffs.
RUF 1" shackle & bumpstops, gears jobs done.
Lockers depending on terrain.

I'm assuming you mean 2" springs as well as RUF and 1" shackles

yes he means 2" lifted rears on all four corners with 1" shackles ,

30x9.5 are good on 15x7 with -13 offset

Im running 30x9.5 on 15x7 @ 3.75 backspace on narrow track
It clears the leafs and gets full steering, only minor modding of the front bumper and mount required
They just hang out of the flares..

Check my build thread for pic's
