Just wondering how big of a job is it to replace a Harmonic Balancer seal on a H27A... Only reason why I am asking is because apparently that what had to be repaired on my XL7 before I can pick it up! |

not too hard. Pretty sure its just a case of taking the belys off, pulling the pulley of, then flicking the old seal out and replacing. |

i assume you are talking about the main seal around the crank behind the harmonic balancer. as with any engine, difficulties assiciated with this job are. -Ensuring the cam timing is lined up before you pull anything appart. -Physcially getting the harmonic balancer and timing belt gear off (i have had some timing belt gears not come off other engines without physically dstroying them......) -Ensuring cam timing is properly lined up when putting it all back together. Essentially its a timing belt job with 1 or 2 more steps (take off timing belt gear and remove/replace seal) becaureful you dont damage the new seal putting it in, find something about the same size as it that fits over the crank shaft (a large socket worked for me) |

None of the timing case should need to be removed. They run a timing chain that runs in oil, not a belt like the G series do, so there should be no need to touch any of the timing gear. |

^^^ Fatz is correct. cost me about $380 to have the suzuki dealership do the front crank seal on my J20a & the H27a will be very similar. also i'd only use a genuine seal too. |
