Chasing the gear ratios on the 4spd box to suit 1l reason being I would like to find out if my current engine and gbox (4k) will have a higher or lower gear ratio in top gear and also first.
First it 5spd 4k box is 3.789:1
5th is 0.865:1 . Trying to determine my gearing needs to run 30s or close too 30 don't plan on going bigger On 1l nt diffs with 1l non switch case.

4th gear in the 4k 5spd box is 1:1 so putting it in 4th will have standard gearing just with a motor that has a few more ponies.
Using formula I found
Ratio 1 - ratio 2 = x
X over ratio 1 = percentage drop
So 1 - 0.865 = 0.135
0.135 over 1 = 0.135
So that's 13.5% increase ? Maybe wrong.

IIRC 1st is 3.163 in a 1l. You could just google it. ;)

Yes, that's a 13.5% decrease in highway revs. 1ls do over 5000rpm at 110, a 4k wont live long doing those revs so it needs to be geared up.
