| Post subject: | Clutch cable reliability. |
For those of us who have a cable operated clutch, is the cable a spare that might or should be carried for extended trips away, or do they rarely cause problems? I did a brief search but was not able to see a post about this particular issue, if someone knows where there is discussion on this issue I am happy to be directed. |

They do snap from time to time depending on age and kwality chinese. If you have one spare, put it in the zook as a spare, They are light |

I had one snap in the middle of the bush & had to drive home with no clutch.. Now i carry a spare just in case! |

I've had 2 die on me. I carry a spare but I've always just driven home clutchless because I'm to lazy to fit it. |

Ive had to fit a new cable in all sorts of places, including the carpark at the airport, after having to drive in with no clutch so I didn't miss my flight In the end I didn't bother carrying a spare, but I knew when it was getting close to going and just replaced it |

I was playing with mine a week ago, Ive had one for a year guessing, Probably used the clutch 30times total only up and down my street. cracked rubber boot.. |

The piece that bolts to the firewall felt like cheap plastic instead of the metal of the original. The rubber boot lasted all of a week of driving around home and to work. I'd possibly give a suzistore/genuine one a go next time if I could confirm it was different. |

Yeah, mine is plastic too and that boot is almost realy to fall apart..... And I haven't even used it yet! I wouldn't expect suzistores to be any differeny though.... Is anyone else getting an ad for "custom made cable assemblies" at the bottom of the page?

I got mine from bursons. Broke going up a hill in peak hour.. OH WAT FUN IT IS TO RIDE AT 20kph IN 2ND GEAR ON A FREEWAY IN PEAK TRAFFIC. |

It's not too hard to shift without the clutch, its difficult to master. Probably not a bad skill to have with the dubious quality of clutch cables. |

I payed 55$ for a cable from suziauto in spring wood. I have a sierra with 30s no transfer gears and a g16b with an exedy hd clutch. That was at least 6 months ago. Still going great touchwood. I carry a spare now cause I got a factory sierra cable for cheap. It's coiled up and zip tied and sits under my rear seat. When my original one snapped it was lucky I was 15 mins from home and just drove home In 2nd all backstreets. I could of probaly got 3rd but I was in no rush. |

I had one snap ine the early afternoon. I got an order in to Suzistore at around four pm, and it was delivered at about 8.30 am the next morning! I installed the cable and still got to work one time  The cable itself isn't great, so I don't know how long it will last.
