Was driving down the road a bit ago and the engine all of a sudden became sluggish and wanted it die until I pushed the clutch pedal in. Idles fine and starts fine, just dies when I let the clutch out in gear... Any ideas?

Engine seems to rev fine in neutral or in gear with the clutch pedal depressed. As soon as I attempt either forward or reverse the engine dies.

When you let the clutch out, is it stalling due to something seized in the driveline or does it just splutter and stop?
Can you push the car forwards/backwards?

Does the sierra ignition system have a condensor?

Only in 1.0's.
1.3's are all electronic as are all 1.6's.

I can push the car and had to tow it home. As I push the gas (even revving the engine higher than I normally would) and let out the clutch the engine just revs down and dies completely when the clutch is released completely (my foot is on the gas the whole time)

If you put the car in gear (EG:1st) and try to start it with clutch out what happens?
I'm thinking it's possibly something like a seized gearbox.

Something else worth looking at is wiring in or around the pedal assembly.
If someone has run a wire where it can get pinched there could be allsorts of dramas.

Ok. Seems that the problem is not related to the clutch pedal/driveline. I started in neutral, didn't touch the clutch, then revved the engine and it stalled out just as it did before. Guessing fuel system? It has started running really rough in the last day or so.
Have a cheapo fuel filter in there now while waiting for one I ordered.

I'll take a look around the pedal assembly just in case as I had to fix the clutch pedal not so long ago.

Mine did that a while ago. Turns out I had something blocking the feed line. Take ya fuel cap off and then take ya fuel line off at the carby, blow from the carby with compressed air. Worked a treat for me..

I'll give that a go, hopefully it is something silly like that... was worried when want33s started talking about a seized gearbox.

My guess is fuel pump. Exact same symptoms as what you describe. Pull the inlet to the carby and see if you are getting sufficient flow, it should fairly pulse out of there so have something to catch it when you turn the car over.

Not sure what this part is called... but it doesn't look right to me.

I tried the compressed air trick and it seemed to work a bit. I'm gonna clean out the fuel system and hopefully that will fix my problem. Does the carb kit from suzistore (http://www.suzistore.com.au/onlinestore ... etail.html) come with everything I will need to fix the carb up?

Thanks

Get a carby kit. Yes that one from suzisport has the lot. The pictures you took were of the accelerator pump

Cleaned out the carby and the tank, new fuel filter and she's good to go...
