| Post subject: | Need advice on LJ50 Engine Options |
Hi all, my old man got offered a LJ50 for free, just has to pick it up, wants to use it as a yard car (body is pretty hacked up), but the motor is no good, not sure exactly what is wrong with it, What I wanna know is, Would we be better off to find another LJ50 motor (is that even likely?) Failing that whats the availabilty on rebuild parts like? OR, do we get a F10 or F8 into it? (do the gearboxes match up) Any help would be great thanks guys! |

F motors bolt in but you'l need an LJ80 gearbox, LJ80 bonnet (or bodylift), a different radiator and a few other bits and bobs. Good LJ50 engines are exceedingly hard to find. Talk to tanshi, he has about 100 spares. LJ50s are geared bullshit low so it'd be doing 100 at 6000rpm on stock tyres. An LJ50s 1st gear high range is lower than a sierra 1st low. Also, you'l have to hand in your man card if you put a 4 stroke in an LJ50. |

let me know if you decide to get rid of the old motor, more spares are always good. or i might be able to help out with parts you need. you can buy rebuild gasket kits, pistons etc of of ebay. but the crank is hard to rebuild. |

Do you have any running motors that you'd be inclined to part with tanshi? |
