Hey everyone, im a new member to this site (through much trouble though) and im asking the question that will have probable drive you crazy by now. What are the best mods for a 1.3L 1989 Suzuki Sierra? taking into account it needs to be p plate worthy (not much to worry about anyway with the sierras  )

The most capable 4WD is the most reliable one. In terms of off road capability, a Sierra with 235/75r15 mud tyres on the stock rims, 4.16 or 4.9 transfer gears and a rear air locker will drive practically any obstacle a newbie will encounter offroad, will drive nicely on the road, will cost very little (in modified car terms) and the cops will hardy bat an eye. |

" The most capable 4wd is the most reliable one " I know it's only 3 days into the year and lots of advice will be given in 2014 but I doubt you will get a more simple straight forward truth than this, I am voting this as the best advice of 2014. And in my opinion the rest of the reply is also spot on advice. |

Not really caring so much about the looks, just want to worry more about performance at this current time. It has been serviced and mostly repaired (however it was done through a friend just to get the Roadworthy), however it definitely needs alot of fixing. The tyres on now are 30" im pretty sure (dont quote me on that one) and 80km/h is pretty much its max speed. |

As much grunt as what? As much as your 1.3 can give you? As much as when your car was new? As much as when your car had standard size tyres on it? Are you saying you want it to be faster? Sierras handle really poorly. With stock wheelbase and suspension, I reckon they go plenty fast enough. Steve. |

might be better off with a different car/4x4 you could do a whole bunch of stuff, gearing, 1.6 motor ect ect, but it will still be a sierra 110kms/hr will still shake, rattle and bounce |

Firstly ensure your engine is performing up to scratch, plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor, air and fuel filter, carbie, premium fuel, timing, correct oil. The biggest power robber are tyres, anything bigger than 215/75/15 are going to be negatively noticeable with stock gearing. Correct oil weight and volume in diffs, gearbox and transfer is important as is wheel bearings that are good and smooth running. Basicly anything that causes drag will affect your Suzuki. |

Thanks alot guys for the help. Appreciate it. Im not wanting a sierra that can go faster, just simply more torque. But what i think ill do first is invest in making sure my engine is performing as good as it can be (as 2stroker said), then maybe look at mods. |

gearing = torque, if you have oversized tyres, i recommend getting the correct gearing to suit, along with all the other suggestions here |

^This. 4:1 transfer gears and check the motor is otherwise healthy and you should have no problems with 100km/h cruising. Steve. |
