Hi all

Lots of noob questions coming up. I bought this Zook yesterday:

Please confirm what model number it is, keep in mind that it is a South African Suzuki so its called a Samurai.

What Model?
What Engine?
any workshop manuals?
What oil to use for services?
Where can i find the engine and chassis number?

wow a hightop coily, never seen one of those before, engine would be just the normal 1.3 g series engine.

i use this as a guide for oils & capacity. http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/castr_au/default.asp

i'm not a sierra person, but i think the chassis number would be on the rhs chassis rail in the right front wheel arch & the engine number will be on the LHS by the bellhousing below the dissy at the back of the motor.

kind of strange that there are no compliance plates at all on the firewall.

Could not find the chassis number, think it might have been removed.

Also couldnt find a sierra hi top anywhere on the net.

By g series motor, is it the G13A?

Never knew there was a coily high top.

Your engine will be a g13ba if it is original coily.

Arent coily timing belts and some other small things different to ordinary leafy g13a / ba? other than that interchangeability is there.

looks pretty much standard coily apart from that. Chassis number on mine is next to the fuel filler hose cover in the wheelarch on the chassis rail.

I think the chassis plates have been removed - maybe i will discover them this weekend, will only be able to get some decent working time on it friday noght because of work

it's a stamped number on the chassis rail, rather than a plate. there are plates that are usually on the firewall with the vin number etc & a heap of other details.

the firewall compliance plates should look something like this, but be SJ80 specific.

Bear in mind because its South Africa it will have a different (or not at all) compliance plate. It should however have a build plate in the vicinity above the brake booster (which is obviously missing)

You may want to look at disconnecting that positive terminal to your second battery before she shorts :)

I just refilled mine till the oil was level with the fill plug on the diffs. I think it was 1.2 litres each diff. Not sure about the gearbox and tcase sorry.

Thanks i ilso used that spec sheet to get most oils,

Thing is i need to be sure, because i will be doing a service tonight and am leaving early tomorrow morning to go to a track, and i dont want to end up not having enough oil.

Anybody have a airfilter part number?

The above posted quantities sound corect to me. If in doubt most oil manufacturers have catalogues with this information.

If you buy 5L of engine oil, then 4L of gearbox oil and 4L of diff oil you can't go wrong.

Air filter cross references to a A348.

We don't have Ryco filters in South Africa. I used an sj413 filter

Finished the service tomorrow will be her first trail
