no doubt you guys are sick of seeing threads like this :roll:

so looking to lift the jimny, want to stick to 2" max to keep it simple.

looking at kits on ebay as there's not a lot of places around here to buy that type of thing.

what are peoples thoughts on a better quality 30mm-40mm lift, versus a cheap 50mm lift ?

i'd probably rather not spend over $600, but if there's a really great kit for $700 i'd be willing to spend the extra money (but not if it's only a small improvement over a cheapy).

Well you're getting king springs either way, so the quality difference is just down to shocks.

Maybe do some research on king springs?

Thanks for that but you need two lengths /types don't you? I've been googling about and can't find any info for springs or shocks. Have also sent off an email about the old man emu set up for a price

Yes my bad, That would be for the rears. I cant seem to find the numbers for the fronts.

FWIW i had king springs (40mm) on my Jimny, and the ride/flex was acceptable, and I am running Kings (again 40mm) on my coily but with Ultima shocks. For the price it does the job.

Yeah mate they were in it when I bought it already lifted. There are gabriels you can buy for the front that match the rears as I know some of the jimny blokes on here run them.

if someone can let me know the serials for the gabriel shocks along with the right springs i could probably make a better set than is on ebay for less money. right now i'm looking at this set that's about $500;

Lots of Jimny's run kits from Jimnybits(http://www.jimnybits.co.uk), I think generally people are pretty happy with the JB 50mm kit. Might be a bit more than $500 but they are having a sale this weekend might get it cheaper. They ship to Aus as well and are good to deal with.

you legend paul, i have that 2" pro comp lift in my cart along with a pro comp damper to price it up, came to about $AU830 delivered to aus since we don't have to pay their VAT (which makes it the exact same price as the shipping haha).

i'll be on jimny bits this weekend to see what they can do, stay tuned for a falling out with the missus though rofl.

Just maybe do a bit of research you have a arb bar and if you are getting a cage it might be that you will need the LHD diesel springs(a bit heavier duty) to support the weight. Maybe someone who has this kit with a heavy front bar will know more.

we're not allowed to fit cages in SA, but i could possibly fit a winch in future adding more weight to the front (which already has the arb bar).

will there be any issues going lhd diesel (being a rhd car) ? or will the springs just switch over no worries & just have the heavier spring rate you think ?

Pretty sure the LHD diesel fits fine, you just swap the springs so the tallest front is on the drivers side.
i dont have a problem with the es3000 shocks since i lets 10 extra psi out of my rear tyres.
dont bother pricing a steering damper. if you don't have abs, and have a LPSV get a position-er bracket but :)

i hadn't even given it a thought, had the valve on the gq & with the 2-3" lift it didn't really upset it at all so never added the bracket. will have to have a look under the jimny when i get a chance tonight (will be under there adjusting the clutch cable anyway).

so bit the bullet & decided to buy the pro comp set from jimny bits, along with a pro comp steering damper & brake balance bar. all came up saving over $100 so was pretty happy with that.

so went to buy it, first issue was 2% paypal surcharge, then followed by paypal grossly understating the conversion rate for au$ to uk pound. both things combined bumped the price up over $70 to what it 'should've' been & i ended up not bothering.

still got the option open for the ebay set for $480 delivered but also have a mate who has a workshop & said that EFS have always given him good deals. he thinks there's a good chance they'll know what springs/shocks i need so will check it out further. failing that i'll just buy the ebay set.

i've gotten the codes for suitable king springs for a 50mm lift, KSFR-36H & KSRR-37H

any chance any one is able to find out the correct codes for those inexpensive gabriel shocks for me ?? i've googled everything i can think of & the gabriel site doesn't even have anything on jimnys.

yeh, it sounds great, but you don't need a steering dampener on a jimny, it covers up other issues that if you cant see they symptoms of can cost you a lot of money.
steering dampners are a waste of money.

i had one, a procomp jimny bits one. i run 30's and no power steering. if you put it back on my car i honestly couldn't tell you if it was on or not, it made no difference to my cars handeling apart from making bumpsteer more dangerous.
