Hi Guys, Im new, Basically Want to buy the best 4wd capability suzuki there is being ether a Seirra/ Vitara i have no idea what the best model to 4wd in, not sure wether short wheel base is better or longer wheels base. or if their another zook model i dont know about, any tips would be fantastic guys i Plan to build it up to a samurai go anywhere type deal. If the plan is solely 4x4ing:

Narrow Track long wheelbase sierra. Better than SWB in all ways except for turning circle and rampover, which isnt much more and less respectively.

Big difference in the ride, as anotehr user on here put it "more big car like" to which I'll add "with none of the disadvantages of a larger than sierra vehicle"

They are all the best in their own right.

It all depends what type of 4x4 you are planning and what build direction you want. And will it be a daily? Budget?
Hardcore (Low or lifted) To Full touring?
Modifying a 4wd in any direction will make the car worse in another aspect.

A Sierra is bloody hard to live with day in day out as a daily, a Vitara is probably more suited to that role better

But as a weekend toy a Sierra is hard to beat as a Budget, cheap to run and repair 4wd..that's tough as Nials :wink:

Both can be modified easily with heaps of aftermarket gear available..

At the end of the day it Depends on what you are going to use the zook for..

If you wanted a REALLY Unique 4wd..YOU could get a Suzuki LJ :wink:

Most capable to least capable in stock form, assuming technical 4wding is what we're doing.

Jimny/Vitara (you can argue these 2 all you want, there's not a lot between them)

Highway ability (best first)

Vitara
Jimny
Sierra
Postie bike
LJ

Easiest to modify/size of aftermarket following (easiest/largest first)

Sierra
Vitara
Jimny
Breville toaster
LJ

I think an SV Vitara (or Jelly Bean GV) is a great base to build a proper all rounder, mostly because they have highway ability that no solid axle Suzuki can touch and it's much harder (for example) to make a Sierra good on the road than it is to make a Vitara good offroad.

For a maximum capability offroader you can't go past a 1.3l leaf sprung Sierra. Just so easy and cheap to build.

a jimny is a every day car. you can drive it every day, pretty much anywhere your going. sure its limited in rock crawling compared to the sierra and lj, being heavier with thinner pannels, less forgiving, but you can still drive it to work 5 days a week and only own one car. plus the M series engine swaps into jimnys make them better on the highway then a vit, aslong as you have the front swaybar on..lol

Do the right thing and buy a narrow track 1.3 litre, long wheelbase leaf sprung sierra.

They really aren't bad to live with compared with jimnys. Its like a comparison between a nail in your foot and a large pin in your foot. Both suck compared to having no foreign objects in your foot. Both Jimnys and Sierras suck on road compared to literally anything else made by anyone else in the last 20 years.

Except one is cheaper, easier to mod, less stuffing around and actually awesome.

I don't think Jimnys suck on the open road like Sierras do. Air con, power steering, power windows a quiet cabin and steering that does not wander all over the road all make for a comfortable tourer. Agree with all other comments though.

Have you considered a Daihatsu Rocky?, some of them are available with a near bullet proof 2.8 Turbo Diesel.. 8)

yeah by a shiatsu with absolutely zero aftermarket support, just because it has a so called "bullet proof" motor... great advice, ARB didn't even bother developing lockers for them, yet they did 2 different front rear locker options for the girly vitara's.

When I was researching zooks, 4wdA came up a bit. Most Suzuki threads got de railed by him calling them toys and weak etc.

Even as a newbie at the time, I had seen zooks in action out performing "manly" hi luxes on 33s with stock size HT's.

I was able to tell that Peter was a bit of a weapon aye.

clearly you don't know that the LJ's were the pinnacle of 4wd suzuki's & they got worse & worse with every model they released and the jimny is the 3rd newest out of all of them. :lol:
