Post subject:  How hard is it to replace your drivers window
Right'o about a week ago some wanker smashed my right hand side drivers window and i got quoted 300 from a glass shop for a new one or 150 i can order and put it in my self
Is it easy to put in? And is it really time consuming? I have all the trim and shit out the door just looking at if its worth the 300 or just 150 and some trouble ( its on a serra lwb )
Also is there is a thread on how to do it a link would be great

Pretty simple job, 2 screws separate the window from the reg and then it's just a matter of pulling it out from the top. The inverse to reinstall the new one.

$300/150 is pretty steep for a side window, You sure they weren't quoting a windscreen?

Very easy to do and you can get a replacement from a wrecker for about $20.

When you see how the window regulator works and where it's bolted you will be like.. ahhh is that it.
There's 2 bolts that hold the glass rail in place. If you get a 2nd hand part it's just a matter of remove and replace, you won't have to replace the rail.

The only other tip is, use a vacuum to suck up all the glass inside the door, otherwise the rattling will drive you bonkers.

Hey guys i saw those two screws and cant seem to get them out any tips?
Also i have cleaned out all the old glass and there are no wreckers near me with a sierra

They could be rusted up, I loosened mine with vice grips and replaced them with hex heads.

WD40 has a new product that is MUCH better than PB Blaster or any of those so-called rust penetrants.

This stuff is GREAT! I used it to remove the badly-rusted philips screws on the rear door interior access panel on an SJ413 hardtop.

Spray it on and let it set for a couple of hours. Screws come right off!

The only other method I have had success with on Suzuki Philips-head screws involves wire-welding a nut onto the face of the screw - probably not practical in this situation... :lol:
