Post subject:  coily rear brakes?

hi guys.
im in the process getting my coily on the road and have some trouble finding the right parts.
the shoes i got off ebay were 1539 which ive since learned are the wrong ones even though the description said fits up to 98'. should have researched first.
a search on here does not show anything specific to the coilys except the WT ones fit 1617 is that correct?

got some 96-08 jimny +sierra js80 wheel cyld which also were incorrect jbs brakes 7791,7792.
cant find any except genuine suzuki from suzystore at 98 bucks each, where else can i find coily wheel cyl from??

thanks.

We had the same problem,Repco listing is also wrong.Picked up 2 from a wrecker that were in good nick with the thought of re-conditioning the originals but haven't needed too so far.

Greg at 4WD parts can supply the correct brake shoes cheaply and also genuine Suzi brake cylinders but obviously they are pricey.

Any specialist brake mob can re-co your brake cylinders,if they can't get the exact size seals they just bore centre to suit what they can get, same with brake shoes, they can bake on new linings on your old ones, the major brake places do it all the time for veteran/vintage cars.

I don't know but i thought there was a listing for left side and a different listing for RHS which yours is in photo. If you get it sorted post details of the new cylinders that fitted for future reference.

Post subject:  Re: coily rear brakes?

well i dont think i even need to do that? the oval raised base that houses both yellow inlets bits bolts through a hole where the brakes are mounted dont they? if so the hydolic pipes will still go on given they're only a cm apart??

dammit i need the car here!

Stripped mine this morning and yep got the same problem, they will fit if you want to bend the brake lines to reverse them but the the clamps for the brake lines wont line up properly. Going to try to get the correct ones though as once you bend those lines there normally a prick to line back up and get the thread started again.

What about the wheel cylinders? Do you have a part number for those?

Post subject:  Re: coily rear brakes?

So I just got told they are only available genuine and for fun rang Suzuki, $160 ea.....$140 trade Part numbers are 5340270AAO l.h. side and 5340170AAO r.h side ex Japan.

Anyone able to tell me if the SJ 70 cylinders are 13/16ths dia as the ports are at least correct and they look like they will fit ok.

Suzistore list genuine ones as per your part numbers above for $99 ea. Still expensive but much cheaper than from a local Suzuki dealer.

Just got a call it looks like one stop suzi shop has them for $65 ea....heading down tomorrow to have a look and hopefully grab a set.

Question though if the drums and shoes are the same partnumber for both SJ70 and SJ80 why is there different wheel cylinders? Coincidently SJ70 are $55 and SJ80 are $99......different dia?

Yep,went thru the whole saga last year, parts listing from Repco/Supercheap/Ebay etc are all wrong,i think you have to source genuine,2nd hand from a wrecker or get the originals re-coed.
If you do suss something out please post here for future reference.
