Hi all, I have a '96 SV620a & just had a piston go on my H20a & im wrestling with weather to replace the engine with another h20a or spending the extra $1k to put in a H25a instead. (not that i have that in the bank anyhow)

Who do i go to here in Adelaide??
Have only spoken to exclusive Jap so far & they quoted $1650 for a 2nd hand h20a + $900 to fit it, $2650 for a h25a & $1100 to fit. Are these prices reasonable??

My experience with cars is doing layperson stuff like oil changes & replacing indicator globes & then abusing them till they are wrecker fodder.

So far, I do bout 3-500km a week with only a few soft-road KM, with a bit of towing also, but have managed to screw up the engine in 6months!!

Also, have been considering cutting our losses & instead of replacement, trading it in for a bit newer GV w/ the h25a or 27 already in action.

Any thorts?

Call orriental 4x4 at lonsdale they have two XL-7's there would be intersting to see what they charge to put that motor in your's. From memory they have done around the 100,000k mark. They may have others eg H25A, but the prices was pretty good with things i got from them.

If your body is good. a vit with a H27A power to weight ratio will be pretty good.

I'll give them a go, las time I asked them they didnt have anything much for suzis mostly other oriental 4wds though.

Dont think ill be putting in a h27a as it sounds like it need new electrical wiring & other jazz that would make it cost a lot more than i can afford ATM.

Will check if they have a h20 or maybe a h25, sounds like it doesnt need much changing around. Jus the sump apparently.

Would be nice to have a bit more power for hills n towing but need to weigh it up against th cost.

Yeah main thing with the H27A is the imobiliser if it wasnt for that it would be not to bad, you would want a 1999 - 2001 H25A with out imobiliser or ABS.

just saying there are a few H27a powered SV's floating around... still on the stock ECU & injectors
