Hi guys,

Long time lurker. Interested in a LWB vit. Wanted a jimny for a while but decided against due to lack of space. Looking at 92 - 97 vitaras.
So my ideal vitara would end up on 31s. Would be for touring/camping and some fun in the mud. I was wondering...

Are the estate models very good seen a 95 model, v6 auto at a good price.?
Are the auto transmission that come in the estate suitable for 4wding or should i wait out and get a manual?

Anything i should look out for in a v6 vit with 150 - 200ks?

Thanks for your time guys, looking foward to starting a build thread on one soon :)

The autos are very strong, same auto goes behind some Jeep 4.0 donks

Torque converter slip will allow slightly bigger tyres.

Will need an extra cooler for serious crawling.

Not sure about the auto, but everyone who has one seems to be happy with it and I am also not sure about the v6 besides that people say they are heavy on fuel...
But I can only imagine that the v6 would be a lot more fun than my little 1.6 lwb haha.
There would be no reason why the v6 with 150-200k wasn't as reliable as the four cylinder with the same and mine is at 280k and still running as strong as ever.
Im still not 100% sure what the estate model actually includes because my 1994 g16b lwb is an estate, if anyone else shines in on what the estate model is that would be great haha.

I think Estate just means 4door LWB ?

I think the v6 is the 2.0L
This is info i recall reading from the information bank of AZ, and it may be wrong etc
Issues are the timing chain rattle (usually a new guide fixes it), and the other rattle, which is reduced with the correct oil and OEM oil filter.

The autos are great, and as chris said, fit a bigger cooler.
IIRC diff ratio for v6 auto is 4.875, so you could use the common 5.12 diff gears, to correct for 5% tyre size (if you could be bothered).

estate is another word for station wagon
