I know the spotlight topic and negatively switching of the suzuki's headlights has been done to death but hopefully someone can simply answer the question without me getting to confused. I'm looking at buying this plug and play wiring loom off ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121861883165 ... fd466&cp=1 I like the plug and play idea of it and that it adapts directly to the headlight circut, and it's cheap price considering it contains all the components i'll need (much cheaper than a similar narva loom). It states its not compatible with a negatively switched vehicle however couldn't I just switch a couple of the connections to the relay and it would work? thanks Mark |

Yes you could - be warned however that the indicator LED on the switch will probably not work the way you expect and may stay on regardless of whether your lights (the vehicle lights) are on or not. |

thanks for that, I guess it depends on how exactly this loom is wired too as I think there is a couple of different ways it could of been done, either way yeah I think I can just swap a couple of the connectors onto he relay or at the switch? Not to worried about the LED indicator on the switch |

That loom is rubbish regardless if you re-work it or not. A Deutsch DT (13A rated) connector as shown in the ad only accepts up to 14AWG or a little over 1.5mm2. That wiring 'looks' smaller than that in the photos and the ad doesn't actually say what it is but i'm guessing it'd be smaller than that. There is 4m or cable from the battery to the lights and the voltage drop of a stranded 1.5mm2 cable is around 0.0138Ohm/m. 200W of spotlight is 16.66A @ 12V. That results in a loss purely by the high resistance of the tiny cable of 0.92V. Most lightbars would be OK but if the spot lights are halogen they are going to look dull. That wiring really wants a smaller fuse than 30A too. |

thanks Reubs, I guess the saying of you get what you pay for rings true here. I'll probably opt for the slightly more expensive narva plug and play loom in that case. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NARVA-WATERP ... Swqu9VR2Cs I've run this harness in another vehicle and it was good. It's only to run a lightbar at this point but that may change. |
