im sure someone has asked this before but i couldnt find any threads on it some useless idiot has cranked the fill/drain plugs on my diffs so hard i dont think anything anything short of drilling them out will budge them. ive tried heating them, ive tried hammer and chisel, ive even tried using a car jack to lever the wrench but all it does is lift the car off the ground. before i set fire to the thing, is it fine to drain the diff by pulling the axles and centre out and refill it through the breather port? |

Weld a nut in/on there and rattle gun the fuckers off and replace them? Lifting the car before they budge is crazy though. |

I've had success with welding a nut to the plug and using a socket on it. If you do end up pulling axles and centre out (big job) then find out an accurate amount to refill it with so its not over or underfilled |

ive only got a stick welder, i dont think i could get a decent enough weld to hold. i might just take it to a mechanic, not the same ones that put the fuckin things in though. they are well and truly in there, im actually concerned i might break the socket or damage the diff housing if i put anymore force on. |

Dumb question: you're using the flash square tool on the plugs? If so, and if you haven't tried it already, I'd hook it up to an impact (although I will thoroughly admit this is rough, may break the plug or the tool) Or try welding a nut. |

yeah im using the 10mm socket, the plugs were pretty much ruined anyway from someone previously using the wrong socket. ive tried my 18v impact and it wont budge them. |

Just make sure it's genuinely a 10mm key, and not a 3/8 drive. Small difference in size but big difference in damage to the plug. I'm sure you already know. Edit: oops sorry, jimny. I had my mind on Sierras which are a 10mm key, not a socket |

success finally! biggest easy out i could find, a breaker bar and some persuasion has finally got it, only problem is the plug is completley ruined haha. any ideas where to get a replacement? |
