Hi all,

Have just purchased a 2002 GV swb 2L manual.

Looking at possibly doing a body lift.

I have looked all over and found lwb gv body lift threads and many mixed reviews, but yet to find someone that has done this to this exact model or knows what they are talking about. If anyone could lead me in the right direction that would be great.

Would like to know if I need to change anything else etc etc etc..

Looking at just a 2" body lift.

Why do you want to body lift it?.

Process would be basically the same as for a LWB.

Jack, I think you may have asked me on eBay. The process is quite simple. The SWB has 2 less small blocks then the LWB kit so therefore the are very similar. I personally had a Body Lift in my 04 GV and experienced no issues. The transfer lever does get right on the console but I didn't have a problem with it.

As for a body lift, I am bias as I sell them, however much of the propaganda you read about them is incorrect. They should really only be used to gain clearance for larger tyres and to gain sill clearance. They don't, as many would have you believe, dramatically increase the centre of gravity, in fact 50mm lift will only raise the COG about 15mm due to the majority of the vehicle mass being unaffected. In contrast a 50mm Spring lift will raise the COG about 45-47mm.

So after all that if you want the instructions shoot me your email on a PM and I'll send them to you to determine if it's something you want.

Can you legally and safetly body lift the GV's as they have airbags?

What are the chances of an airbag going bang?

Yes, Suzuki air bags are inertia triggered by a module in the dash on the tunnel, pull the centre console and you'll see it, has all the wiring in yellow conduit. It was the vehicle fitted with impact sensors that were effected by the fitment of body lifts but this was early technology that wasn't used by Suzuki

This here is the truth! With the exception of guard cutting there is no better way to get tyre clearance than a BL. On an IFS vehicle the benefits are even more profound as the CV joints will be your limiting factor. On a solid axle car you can fit bump stops and longer shock to gain clearance.

I've mentioned this in other threads but for completeness on the subject of tyre clearance.

A suspension lift, if working correctly, should not provide tyre clearance, a good working suspension should compress as much or more then standard thereby the same or less tyre clearance is achieved. Though in saying that it is seldom the case.
