G'day AZ Image

As life goes on things change and the time to get back in a sierra has come about (in about 2 months)
Wife is getting a colorado as a dd/tow the camper/quad good car that i wont be aloud to break in the bush :lol:
For me i miss the simplicity of a sierra being able to dent/scratch panels with out to much worry/cost and not worrying about wet muddy dogs jumping in the car (my GV smells and looks pretty funky after all the beach trips this year :| )
Also my old sierra hardly ever broke things and not from lack of trying it got abused lots, with my GV the last three trips i've gone on i've replaced two CVs and i'm over it :roll: it's no fun when ya spend more time fixing it then enjoying it :wink:
Plan is to find a reasonable condish WT
Baleno 1600
Jim/vit power steering
Rear locka (not welded or air)
235/75r15 mt on stock rims
Maybe some bar work/sliders and keep it sorta stock looking 8)
Now ill be doing around 300km a week daily commuting so what would be my best options with gearing? (i have a 1 litre case here but not sure if low will be low enough)
Also what's a good set up for springs/shocks?

Has been close to nine years since i played with a sierra so any help or feedback would be great :beer:

The swifts over here are few and far between and what does pop up have lots of kms
From what i have read the balenos have the cracking blocks sorted

1 litre case will be fine for 235s in high. Depending in the terrain it might be a bit high in low. I'm running 4.16s (same as 1 litre in high) and its nice and low for my local wheeling.

On 235s with 3.9 diffs I'm bang on 4000rpm @100 kmh.

again im not sure about this. its more a question than a statement, but a g13b from the eastern states seem cheap (well under a grand) and freight on an engine last i sent one wasnt horrendous. a motor shipped across the country is less than the conversion plate to be able to use a g16?

Ok i might just chuck the 1 litre case in at first and get gears as funds suite.
Will be doing beach trips and i wana go out on some Perth Suzuki Offroad trips so will need gears sooner or later.

Dan' can get a whole baleno over here from $300 but don't get me wrong if one came up at the right time for the right price i wouldn't knock it back.

1ltr case with 235/75 should be fine until you upgrade to 31/32 tyres if you lob a maruti then its a 1ltr 4sp but as a bonus you get 4.1 diffs and 1ltr gearing. This is a good option if you twin lock it before efi as with only 30kw the front axles last substantially longer than 1.3/1.6
With a few decent lwbs popping up in w.a. at the moment i cant see why you would bust your spine in a swb ;)

Yeah I've seen that one Mac, I'd love to build a trayback maruti like that red one you used to own mick and probably still will at a later date but for now i don't want to spend my whole budget on buying a car then having nothing left for engine conversion and stuff but if one comes up at the right time/price ill jump on it :wink:

Haha!! They sure are!!! Designed in Japan where the median height for men is 4 foot something!! My Landcruiser suffers the same.

I bit of extra padding on the seat works a treat, I always enjoyed driving it even if my knees were either side of my head :D

Looks like i'll be picking up a sierra next week and i just happen to have a set of near new 215/75r15's here would it be worth chucking in the 1litre case or wait till i get 235's?

I'm gunna use this thread for all my stupid questions :deadhorse:
