I took my Sierra for a long drive on Sunday and having not been in a Sierra for a long time, I was shocked at how terrible the suspension felt. Had a bit of a search on the forum and came across ZookFan's Sierra 101 post. "OME Comfort Springs or EFS 50mm springs. Before fitting either of these I would recommend removing the third leaf from the top of the pack and the overload spring from the rear. In removing these springs you will not get the advertised “lift” from the spring, the car will settle only slightly higher than stock. If you intend on carrying large loads or towing don’t remove the springs from the rear, you will need them but you will be compromising performance." Thinking I'll give this a go. Anyone else tried this /would condone this to improve ride quality? I already have the standard duty OME 40mm lifted springs and OME shocks fitted. |

I had got the 2" EFS lift when I had my Sierra, I removed the second from the bottom on the rears before I put them in and suffered no negative effects. Although my car was never heavily laden either. Height isn't so much of an issue with Sierra's, they have a fair amount of clearance stock anyways. I would much prefer a low Sierra that rides softly and settles on bumpstops easily. So go for it. Just keep the leaves incase you want to put it back in. |

Not that I can condone myself but definitely give it a go. Have you still got the stock sway bar on there? If you do remove that first and go for a drive, that will loosen the whole car up and feel much better. Next make sure your tyres have the right amount of air in them. The placard states stock tyres only need 20psi in them, over inflated tyres will detract from handling and comfort. If you've got all that right then start playing with the leaves. It's a half hour job per corner to drop some springs out, start at the back if you want to see results straight away then if you're convinced do the front. If you don't like the feel of the car it should only take a couple hours to go back to standard, won't cost you anything else. |

I removed 2 or 3 leafs from each pack on my King springs (and added slipper pads and spacer plates which the OME already has) and the ride went from unbearable to better than most cars. Body roll is at hilarious levels and the springs are sagging very fast, though OME might be better quality than these (less sagging). I run 2 leafs in the front and 3 in the back, that's in an LJ though which is about 200kgs lighter than a 1.3l sierra and has a higher COG. |

Seen a fair few 3 leaf rear packs snap springs. Leaf springs just take a bit of use to soften up |

I'll start with the rear then. Is the overload spring the leaf at the bottom of the pack? |
