So I've just purchased some new HID's spotlights, LED bar and Illuminated switches. After a few failed attempts with the LED's functioning correctly in the switches with the way they were wired previous I have found a solution following the wiring in this image: http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z253 ... IRING2.jpg My question is I want to run 4 HID's and a 12 inch LED bar but I'm worried that it by using the Highbeam ground as the earth in the lights it might be too much for the small wiring to handle? I assume that I could lessen the load by distributing it amongst both sides... it may not even be an issue so some help would be awesome. 91 Vit if you're wondering. |

The diagram is either incorrect or created by someone with little knowledge of what they are about - the only reason to use a relay in there is to not have the lamp current flowing through the control wiring. Ground the driving lights directly to the chassis or battery negative, and run the driving relay coil ground to the high beam circuit and you should be fine - don't forget to fuse the positive feed to the relays. |

I still can't seem to figure it out. I can get the driving lights to operate as intended. But the led in my switch is then always on. My switch has four posts on the back: 12+, Load, negative for both LED's and 12+ from acc for second LED. I have the relay wired: 87 spotlight positive 30 fused 12+ from battery 86 load from switch 85 negative switch from headlight. Ultimately I don't really care whether the switches are illuminated but I would prefer it, surely I'm missing something simple. |

You mention that the switch has two LEDs - which one is always on? If it's the icon backlight LED, you have something incorrectly wired - maybe the 12+ from accessory should be tied into the dash illumination, if it's the driving light "tell tale" LED, I think there's a way to get it to turn on only when the switch is on, but it may mean wiring a diode in - I would have to sit down and work it out, or go pull my dash apart and check what I did when I installed mine. |

The LED that is intended to show me the switch is activated. |

Wire a diode (1N4001 or similar, any small rectifier diode 1A or thereabouts will work) between the switch & terminal 86 on the relay - the diode has a band on one end to denote the cathode, that end connects to the relay. |
