Looking at options for the front of the Coily, I have limited room due to A/C and don't really want to add too much weight.

Has anyone run the Runva 4.5xs?

The physical size is friendly for what I want and I can just fab up a plate and away I go. any 9000/12000lb seems overkill for what I may need it for considering all the tracks up here are driveable by near stock patrols/cruisers, Its more for a "just in case" seeing as any wheeling is an hour from town. I'd be happy to do a double line pull if that was required.

Jonno has one on his Maruti. I think he bent the drum or a bar or something but thought it was his fault for putting to much rope on it?

MrRocky is the only one I've read that has complained about the small ATV winches that has actually owned one (that should bring some more complaints out!). Everyone else seems happy with them.

An issue with them and doing a double line pull is the lack of rope they carry means they only have a few meters of pull so your rigging needs to be spot on and it would be tedious and possibly a little dangerous to (say) winch up a long hill. To me that's not really a factor but it might concern some.

I've got a 4500lb winch that has been doing a fantastic job of holding down the cupboard shelf for 4 or so years!

Yeah my 4000lb atv winch let go and nearly landed my car in the drink. A quality brand 4500 meant for small vehicle should be ok just dont have 100% blind faith on full vehicle weight+incline+obstacles

I have seen 4.5K winches do really well, but I wouldn't run one myself. 4.5K winches are lightly constructed and I wouldn't trust the brake on a steep hill. 6K winches run the standard 10" drum and bolt pattern and are much more heavily built. If you need an electric winch you need it to be reliable.
