Hi all, Looking for Jimny flares that are half-decent. I've have had a read of a few of the other threads on here but have not come across this specific style. I'm not a fan of most of the other options (e.g. defender flares). ![]() Does anyone out there know where these are from please? AFAIK these are NT flares from Japan, but no more. They are also different (at least they appear so to me) than the ones commonly posted (below). ![]() ![]() Cheers! |

So I've been trying to locate these with not much luck. Would be nice to be a native (or at least secondary) Japanese speaker... I've tried terms such as "オーバーフェンダー ジムニー" which I think is roughly "fender flares Jimny" There's plenty there in Japan with no shortage of crazy lift but I still can't locate these. In the interim I've just found more images of decent looking (according to me) flares. ![]() ![]() http://blog.goo.ne.jp/suzyjb332001/e/97c7a73d1ff6cd3260e395d9658f2d54 |

These are all for narrow track cars. To run these cleanly you'll need to remove the door/body cladding and fill the worlds supply of holes in the panels - are you prepared to do that? |

What do you mean by narrow track ? I'd assume the jimny was as narrow as you'd get except matey a terios ? |

Thanks for the input, I think I mentioned that these are for NTs in the original post, but sure it's not a huge concern to remove the additional plastic cladding off the sides. I think (not 100%) that the guards would cover the majority of the holes that are used to support the pre-existing WT flares although the side panels across the door and below would require a bit of attention. I'm not all that hopeful that a source for the flares on the baby blue Jimny will turn up though, so maybe it's an exercise in futility anyway. Cheers |

Another option could be something like these that appear to be WT compatible, simply replacing existing panels (but even this Jim looks like the side panel has been stripped). I think these look very clean but I'm not sure how much additional clearance they offer as this Jimny looks to have a bit of lift.

I'm not chasing the type in the second/third image. I just posted them for comparison's sake as I think the ones in the first image are different. Thanks for the help though! |

Thanks man, I'll have a look edit: So I had a look, found a few different varieties on there, posted below if anyone is interested. No love on the variant I'm chasing. I've definitely got a thing for the flares on the neon green Jim but that one seems to require more Portuguese. $103 ![]() $146 ![]() $249 ![]() $249 ![]() $290

Kailes wrote: What do you mean by narrow track ? I'd assume the jimny was as narrow as you'd get except matey a terios ? Just like there are wide track and narrow track Sierras, there are wide and narrow track Jimnys. In narrow track form, they are 660cc turbo 3 cylinder powered and have no flares at all. (They also have 16X4.5" rims). This makes them comply to the Japanese "Kei" or light car class which means you can buy one without having a designated parking space, and registration is much cheaper. they also have shorter bumpers and a heap of other small differences. Boneheimer - most of these flares aren't "cut out" style and aren't designed to increase the room available in the guard. In the front you'll note there's some structural steelwork that stops the guard being raised much. I'm not sure what size tyres you're trying to clear with what bumpstop/bodylift combination but it might be worth bearing in mind. |

Gwagensteve, in all honesty I'm just looking to replace my current stock flares that have had a guard chop and a trim. I hate the flimsiness of them as well as the lack of an inner guard that allows debris to clog up under the wheel well. If I could get something like the ones pictured on the bright green Jim I'd be able to plastic weld some inner guards up and they'd likely offer clearance for anything I'd want to run on the Jimny. For the time being what I've got is fine as my Jim will only be running 215/75R15's until these tyres run out of tread, but I'd like to source something that can allow a for up to maybe a 30" tyre without the tech screw look. |

I've found more images of the flares in question although I'm still searching for a vendor at the moment. This Jimny in particular is from Brasil AFAIK. Is anyone aware of differences in the side profiles of newer models with the front facelift vs. older models? (Mine is an 04 model) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

So AFAIK the flares pictured above on the bright green Jim are very similar to the flares on the Brazilian '4sport' variant of the Jimny (pictured below). Although it appears to me that the (aftermarket?) flares above offer a bit more lateral tyre cover. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

So I've been in touch with my local Suzuki dealer (impressive service!) who contacted Suzuki Australia and apparently this sub-variant of the Jimny is made by a Brazilian company and the only way to get the Brazilian style factory flares would be to contact them directly. Being genuine flares I can imagine the cost will likely be pretty unreasonable. http://suzukiveiculos.com.br/novo/Suzuki4all I have a contact from an ancient post for the ones installed on the bright green Jimny so I'll try and chase that up. |

So after a quick wiki search yesterday I got completely confused , is the Suzuki wide body the same panels ? Because they looked like they might suit what we are after .. but I don't know . Please if by can find the price on those flares or even the contact info for someone with them please let me know. They are sexy ... |

There has been much discussion as to whether the wide and narrow track cars have the same panel pressings. I'm pretty sure they do, others are not so sure. The bigger issue is most of these flares aren't a cut out style and won't work with trimmed guards. |

They are different, This is a fibreglass 1/4panel I molded off my Jimny, it has a pressed "flare" that the plastic clip-on flare and trim covers over. snorkel2This is narrow track jimny without flares for comparison. |

Thanks Watermouse. That's the best answer I've seen in relation to this. That's going to complicate fitting those narrow body flares somewhat. |

So what Watermouse says is definitely correct, the WTs have the pressed flares which is the obvious difference. The flares are pressed on the front quarter panel but are only spot welded on the rear so I think the rear quarter panel is essentially identical. Apart from this I believe the panels are identical although as a disclaimer I haven't actually been able to compare these in person, only visually from images. My reasoning for this is that the Brazilians appear to do a virtual lift cut on their Jimny's as well prior to fitting the 4sport style flares. If this is correct, they're still an option and provide additional tyre clearance by removing the pressed flare and likely the mud guard under the wheel well. This can be accomplished by simply doing the virtual lift (http://auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=23691), but the reason I'm chasing alternative flares is purely aesthetic because I've already removed the pressed flares. vet 180 wrote: Thanks for the video, gives a good idea of what's required for a full conversion. No chance of me cutting the chassis here in Aus but I've already cut the flares. It was nice to see that the flares have a fitted wheel arch plastic that you can buy as well. Quote: This are the jimny 4 sport or something. My wife is brazilian and heading back soon. If there is a genuine interest I can get her to get prices. The issue will be shipping That's correct. I'm not sure if they're all OEM though. I think the green machine above has just had a guard chop and an aftermarket flare kit fitted which I think is a slightly wider profile? I've checked out the price for these flares and so far I've found them for AU ~$400 per corner! This is a bit out of my price range as that's before shipping. If your wife speaks Portuguese it should be a simple phone call, but if not it's probably more hassle than it's worth at this point as, like you mentioned, shipping will be the issue. Thanks for the input! |
