hey guys

Been battling this one for a while now. i have tried firing the parts cannon at my g13ba but its not helping i need to figure out my issue. i have a 3k carb on a stock g13ba using a timing light i set the timing to 8 degrees btdc and i start to feel the car pinging around 3k rpm if i move the BTDC to 10 degrees and the drive i feel the pinging at 4k rpm, its kind of like a flat spot i feel it lose power and struggle through it. slowly not going WOT sometimes seems to smooth it out. it only does it under load so if you free rev it it feels fine.

this is what i have done to the car recently not so much to fix the issue just for piece of mind for myself.

new leads
new plugs
new dizzy cap and rotor
new vac line for dizzy to vac advance on carby
new vac advance unit as old one was not working
swapped out 155 secondary jet on the 3k carb to a 105 from a stock carby
new fuel tank
cleaned and blown out the fuel lines
new fuel filter
new oil new filter
the carb adapter is new with new gaskets.
fuel up using 91 shell

at my wits end. if i cant figure it out soon i may need to take it to an actual mechanic. im just after some ideas of some other things i can fire the parts cannon at to try fix it. i'm unsure of the age of the fuel pump.

Put 98 in it and see if it still does it. If it stops, I vote you have a timing problem- cam advanced one tooth perhaps.
Confirm 0 degrees on the flywheel is in fact TDC to confirm this.

You also don’t mention a new coil. Coil could be breaking down.

I assume the fuel pump is known good?

looks like you where right, i changed the old random shit looking red coil that was on the car when i got it with a new Bosch coil and the issue is gone. to be fair i did find a bunch of random broken shit that i had to fix on my journey to finding out it was the coil.
