i've been through a few entries in the forums in this regard and can see people prefer to swap the axles since the LJ CVs are NLA
Does anyone know the actual differences between the two CVs? do they different number of splines, diameter?

The inner spline is the same but the outer spline is totally different on the LJ to suit the semi floating drum brake. If you've got LJ hubs then sierra CVs wont work for you but if you swap to disc brakes you'l need Sierra CVs.
