Post subject:  EGR valve in a GV 08 TD

Hey,

i took my 2008 TD grand vitara to the mechanics today as the injector fault light was coming on randomly.
there was no loss of power or any noticable change, and nothing that seemed to make it happen any more or less. when the car was turned off, the light would no longer be on, and may come back on within minutes, or not come back on for an hour.

the mechanic reckons its the EGR valve, and says its a common problem on diesels as they get older.
the following fault codes came up
P242A, turbine inlet temperature sensor and wake up sensor failure
P0500, vehicle speed sensor 'A'
P0409, EGR sensor 'A' circuit
P0403, EGR control circuit
he Also recommended getting rid of the DPF soon, as it also can be a failure point.

what im asking is if it is the EGR valve, is it pretty easy to just clean/get a new part and it should be fine, or is it quite complicated and/or need the computer reset. also if i should buy in a new part, or just clean up the old one, or there's a different solution entirely.

also if i should just buy a new EGR valve, should i go genuine, or after market.

Keep in mind that im a uni student, and funds aren't in great supply.

Any help is appreciated

id start with a good upper cylinder decarbonisation - and yes fuck the DPF off as soon as you can
