Hey guys, Have a 2000 Grand Vitara SQ420 3 door and are looking for spare ball joints to take on a Fundraising Rally in July. We are heading from Alice Springs to Kimberlies and back to Alice so wanting to take some spare ball joints (among other spares...). The only Ball Joints I can find are either ones pressed into a mount with 3 bolts attaching it to the control arm but mine has the ball joints in a one piece arm, no bolting together... \ Has anyone found just the ball joints to replace in the arm, I can only find replacement arms, and as you can imagine, room in the car is already pretty limited.... Supercheap and all the other stores have no help as they all say the 3 bolt ball joint and mount fits my car, when it actually does not. Thanks for your assistance, |

The ball joints are integral to the lower wishbone and can't be removed. It may be possible to swap the car to earlier Vitara arms with the three bolt removable ball joints. |

Cheers Fordem, I wasn't sure which is why said "may" I think the later (2.0/V6) vitaras also had non-removable ball joints from memory - I recall some shenanigans when we were swapping parts between one of CJ's many vitaras. |

That is correct, the SV620 also has cast control arms with the ball joint integrated and those are also dimensionally different to both the SE & SQ series. |
