Congratulations on being selected for Auszookers Zook Owner of the Month!

Thanks

How does it feel being honoured with the nomination for Z.O.O.M. 2015?

Yeah good, really happy to get to share my little story with you guys.

So tell us about yourself. Who are you, What's the meaning to your username, Where do you live, and what do you do for a living?

My name is josh/wilso/wilsy/31zook, I live in Maitland NSW with my beautiful wife Taire and our mini lop ear rabbit Sven.
31zook, comes from fitting 31s on my 2nd sierra and feeling pretty proud of myself for achieving that
And after being a boily for 8yrs i switched up and now drive haul trucks in a mine.

How did you get started in Suzuki's & how many have you owned?

I lived in Moree for 9 years as a kid, and one day dad and i saw a tintop 1L dad made the comment that they are light and like "2 motorbikes stuck together". For some reason it stuck in my mind, and when i got my apprenticeship it was the first thing i bought. 1L tintop full of rust, corolla motor, i ended up getting rid of it after it did a head gasket on the way home, next was an 89 WT 1.3 tintop. straight as a pin, ran super well, even had a sun roof haha. I destroyed it, then a LWB that ended up on Lux diffs and 36s. And then a jimny, and then a SWB sierra. I've owned a bunch of other sierras I've bought for cheap and parted/sold on.

How long did it take you to build your to what it is today?
Not Long, maybe a 2 months collectively. I wanted to build something simple and something that i drove more then worked on.
SWB, twin spools, chromo front end, track bar, long range tank, ARB compressor, baleno seats, 6.5s, guard chops, RUF, RHS sills, front bar and Warn Winch

Any changes in store for your Suzuki?
Tcase lift. Not too much. I want to find a Auto Vit eventually and drop it in, but its not on my must do list.

What has been your best modification?

Power stering on edna and spools. (simple and head ache free)

What has been your worse modification?

Believing it could be something that its not. Its not really a mod, but its probably what kills allot of builds, and I think thats what really killed the goat. I thought that i could build a big comfortable, touring car that was, nice to be in and had heaps of room for packing... in reality, its the same size as a sierra, bumpy, underpowered (bad motor/heavy bar work/big tyres). E.G. how many builds do you see get bought, pumped full of cash and parts, driven for a week and up forsale, cause it wasn't what they thought it would be.

That, or Airlockers haha

If you could have anybody else's zook, who's would it be and why?

Bluesuzy thing. Only mod would be a ute cab on it so its sealed plus a bit of a different look i guess...
I wanna build something big eventually, 80series, LS turbo/auto, methods, 35s, and coilovers. Be something i could drive a decent distance in comfort and different from what im use to working on.

What has been your best 4wding trip?

Watto's 14. easily the funnest trip I've ever had, everyone was great, tracks were sick. Super fun.
Image

If you could go to any place in the world to wheel, where would that be?

Dunno, i love wheeling my area as it is. If i won the lotto i would buy a 4door JK spend up on it and tour america/canada/mexico. We went to see my wifes oldman once and I've been keen to go back ever since.

Who are you closest to in the auszooker's community?

jimny_timmy, Bogga, bluesuzy, skip, greenzook, ratty, rich, ahh, probably a few others that i have met here but have forgotten that it was AZ was where i met em....
Image

Tell us what the wheeling is like in your area?

Big, rocks, hills, steep, clay, it really differs, area to area, we have a decent mountain range and use to have a really good Beach, that got shut down for Aboriginal/enviro reasons on the Friday, and a sand mine opened on the Monday. Stockton use to be awesome but now everyone goes to Blackhead beach. This year i will fish more i hope.

What other toys/hobbies do you put a lot of time into?

House, church, work. I have a motorbike and BMX i use to ride allot, but I'm being more focused on my career these days so it little time for anything other then what i can get done on Edna.
Image

What is it about the auszookers that brings you back for more?

Not allot ATM, not cause its not good, but it in a 'lul' at the moment i believe. Facebook has made its way into crappy tech, weird build threads, which is all well and good, but it means that people don't search on google as appose to asking on FB. Its pretty annoying to see the same question posted every day, but i can unfollow or skip it, I'm hanging out on AZ so if there is a revival of sorts there is still some good members left ready for foster the community.

Pirate4x4 has stood the test of time and FB, but it has a much older user group. AZ has a younger, cheaper audience with a high turnover, so its kinda a wait and see time for AZ i guess.

What about the auszookers forum would you like to see changed?

Not much, i don't think adding sections is a quick fix, but it might encourage more active users. I was here before the 400member comp

Now for the million dollar question, who do you select to be the next Z.O.O.M. & why?

Great ZOOM.

Thanks for the effort put in by both Scrawn and 31zook.

I havent had much dealings with 31zook other than buying a 1 litre case off the bloke, he was definitely a top bloke to deal with in that regard.

I dont know if its just that, I know its a forum thing but folks here are real keen to nitpick, I've responded to threads that others have left for days and then someone jumps on your throat 5 minutes after your reply either because you made a mistake or a typo.

It can also be negative at times. I never realised this until I started using some other (American) forums again.

Now enough with my negativity, looking forwards to more shots of Edna. :)

I've also bought a transfer from Wilso, he and Timmy personally delivered it (18 hour round trip).

Definitely can't complain about customer service

AZ is gentle compared to allota other forums. Plus allot of new guys seem to have an attitude as soon as they start posting as god gift to AZ.

And if you think Facebook is any better at dodging negative nit picky people then you have never posted much.

Sorry, I've never used facebook at all, and would not use if for zook tech.

As for AZ, maybe you've found one of the reasons more experienced members have been moving away.

Quite a few have been told to run and jump by 20 year olds. Anyone remember "Fritter"?
