Congratulations on being selected for Auszookers Zook Owner of the Month!

How does it feel being honoured with the nomination for Z.O.O.M. 2017?

Warm and fuzzy!!!! It is actually very much appreciated, thank you :)

George the tray back. Not Bumstein's vehicle but in the fleet for a year

So tell us about yourself. Who are you, What's the meaning to your username, Where do you live, and what do you do for a living?
MSJ comment: Explaining your user name and why its not Bum-stain might be a good one here

Name is Jon. I live in Geraldton but I'm in the process of moving to Bunbury. I'm a Paramedic and have been for quite a while.

Username just came from the full title of cowsnofskibumsteinpastafizzyola, which has zero meaning. Although I've always liked Joe's version Bum Stain, coz we've all had a mishap or two there right?

Chirp chirp chirp. No? Errrrmmm. Me neither

How did you get started in Suzuki's & how many have you owned?

I rode in the backseat of a SWB Sierra about 12 years ago and loved it! Always wanted one since!! Then a few years ago I purchased Polly (my '93 SWB) from Adelaide and drove it back. I had 3 days to cover the 3000km and had a ball, I was hooked!!

I now have 2 1/2 SWB's, 2 LWB's and an LJ20.

How long did it take you to build your zook to what it is today?

It really never stops! I might change which car I'm buggering around with at any one time but I've always got something going on. I've been working on Polly for nearly 5 years now and I've still got parts lined up and things to do planned.

Any changes in store for your Suzuki?

Absolutely!! Polly is continuing to get the princess treatment. Longbaser is going to eventually get rebuilt (it's a ground up job, just for fun!). And Ugly Bob will continue to receive all the bits I don't use on other cars!! The LJ will get tidied up and just live it's life again.

Mostly I'm into preservation, just keeping a nice old thing nice.

What has been your best modification?

The best thing I've ever done with mods is not do them. Things that have seemed like a great idea no longer seem great after some reflection and digestion.

What has been your worst modification?

Weber carby. It works ok in the car its in now but was crap for the car I bought it for. I also regret putting a roll cage in Polly, the missus made me do it.

If you could have anybody else's zook, who's would it be and why?

Mr Rocky's Aquaman (I know it's sold now, I'm still lip quivering a bit), Hooki's LWB and Pez's old LWB. I do love a well built and tidy LWB!!

What has been your best 4wding trip?

Holland Track was a fav! Not tough tracks by any means but amazing country. And Murchison Offroad Adventures, great fun and good people!! WA big trip there perhaps?

If you could go to any place in the world to wheel, where would that be?

I posted pics a while ago from a 4WD yearbook from the 80's where a small bunch of guys did an epic 4wd trip through PNG in LJ's. That would be my pick

Who are you closest to in the auszooker's community?

I have a little bit to do with a few people but being in Geraldton insulates me from other AZers a fair bit. Longbaser hasn't been around for a while and he sold his gem to me. Bought a few things off Mr Rocky and a few others.

What other toys/hobbies do you put a lot of time into?

Everything outdoors! Fishing, boating, hunting/shooting, surfing, kitesurfing, camping, drinking beer and breaking wind.

Parts wreck given a new lease on life as a bullcatcher

What is it about the auszookers that brings you back for more?

Good tech and generally a good community. Everyone gets on (usually) and it's a bottomless pit of knowledge and experience!! Keep it up

What about the auszookers forum would you like to see changed?

It's own app or mobile version of the page. Tapatalk and I don't get on. But no big deal, I survive :)

Now for the million dollar question, who do you select to be the next Z.O.O.M. & why?

Bumstein, your suggestion will be put into "reserve". Excellent choice IMO. But I will allow a chance for this month's nomination to go next month.

Cheers.

Congrats!

We'll have to catch up one day if you're in Bunno, sorry I missed you in Gero last year.

I like the bullcatcher, is that the blokes place with the old Landcruisers out at Mount Magnet?

Cheers mate!!

Yeah I'm planning to get down your way in a few months, enjoy the winter weather with a road trip :) hope to catch you then!!

Haha the must buggy is a ripper!!! Wasn't sure if get it going after the carby was left exposed and the motor had a gut full of water!! But she runs and runs bloody well! Yep that's on the station. I spend a lot of time there so I've got a few cars there myself.

Is it me, or is Ugly Bob not that rough?

The pic of Ugly Bob loaded reminds me a bit of Shep's orange thing when it was still a green thing.

Shep's LWB made me want an LWB, particularly a ute. I foolishly sold mine.

Haha UB gets some love here and there!! It had nearly no brakes for 2 and a half years. Then I redid the steering knuckles and brakes all round.

Uni joint gave up epically on a road trip recently. Zero dollar fix with parts borrowed from an old drive shaft.

I bought the canopy off of Hooki when he changed tact and went trayback. It also inherited the weber to help it run better. Zero choke mech but still works well.

It's also inherited a new drivers door, the old one was rusty and had no window. Plus a few panels here and there.

It is marginally less ugly than when I bough it but there's still some nasty cancer in the bodywork. Every now and then I hear something fall through the floor onto the road through a rust hole. It was originally silver but someone has brushed or rattle canned a terribly done paint job over it, but it's rubbing off.

But the beast keeps going and is a heap of fun!!! I also like UB being a zero dollar budget. When I replace something on one car Ugly Bob inherits more bits. It's an epic jalopy

Yeah, keeping a rough zook on the road would be easier without yearly inspections.

Damn the yearly inspections.

Ah cheers Joe!!! :D

Hell yeah I like not having to put the car over pits every year!!! I don't know what the system has against unsafe cars, I find them fun and more interesting than new cars!! More of it I say
