Congratulations on being selected for Auszookers Zook Owner of the Month! Thanks ! How does it feel being honoured with the nomination for Z.O.O.M. 2018? Surprising ( guess most people say that.) I'm a lot more lowkey around the forums, although I do ready it everyday. So tell us about yourself. Who are you, What's the meaning to your username, Where do you live, and what do you do for a living? I'm Pete, I'm located in Leschenault which is in the SW Corner of WA, and I'm a Carpenter by trade. Username came from a love of Mitsubishis 20 years ago. How did you get started in Suzuki's & how many have you owned? ![]() Started from my Pop having an LJ ute on his farm back in the early 80s, then looking for a couple of years I finally came across a red SJ50 tintop and got lucky enough to nab it for an absolute steal. I drove the Tintop as hard as I could in stock form, but another close mate bought a Yellow SJ50 WT SWB soft top with no motor, we ended up building that right up with g16b and a heap of mods our local comps ( Driven To Drive hosted by Perth Offroad Promotions). I ended up wanting my red tintop to be the same and dropped most of the same mods into it, and in that time picked up the silver SJ51 NT LWB nearly 2 years ago. A few other local mates were right into Suzis ( and still are ) when I picked my red tintop up 4 years ago and that's what got me right into the whole Auszookers and having some fun. I've helped a few guys/girls locally with anything I can, wiring/parts/sarcastic comments, and that's what I like to do. From wiring in a AW4 into a SJ50 LWB sierra and having to mould Series 1 and Series 2 vitara looms together and make something work into an SJ50, it's what I find fun and makes my brain tick. ![]() ![]() ![]() How long did it take you to build your zook to what it is today? From picking the SJ51 up to actually touching it would be year and a half, last few weeks I have put a decent amount of time in. Currently It's just a chassis on stands, about to sandblast/brush and ready for paint to be put together. I've gathered a lot of parts already, so once painting and powdercoating the car should hopefully come together pretty quick. ![]() Any changes in store for your Suzuki? A massive amount. Fred Flinstones car was faster then what this is right now. ![]() What has been your best modification? G16bs. Why didn't Suzuki make this a bloody factory option for Sierra ! ![]() What has been your worst modification? Dents. And I'm good at them. If you could have anybody else's zook, who's would it be and why? Probably Troopys SJ50 red rocket. G16B, AW4, geared, MT117s, LWB. Unstoppable machine, works so well in what terrain we have in WA. What has been your best 4wding trip? Been way to many. To me, anytime I can get out to our locals ( Brunswick/Harvey/Goat Road etc) is a best trip out. Murchison Offroad Adventure park was insane and great fun though ! ![]() If you could go to any place in the world to wheel, where would that be? Moab. Definitely Moab. In Aus, I want to send my TJ to SA and do Loveday. Who are you closest to in the auszooker's community? Probably Troopy, I have met quite a few people through here though, MadMacca, Bumstein, and the Zookini McGee if she is around. Oh and Denby. ![]() ![]() What other toys/hobbies do you put a lot of time into? I have a Jeep TJ. My 2 favourite 4wds side by side. We had been doing the local Comps, 2015/2016 Driven to Drives we took out first place in modified in the yellow SJ50, first year just with a series 1 g16b, we bunged a turbo on it for 2016, didn't get to test it out anywhere and won again. 2017 we went to a TJ with a LS1 and took out Rocks and Ruts challenge in Touring class. ![]() I enjoy working on other peoples cars. We have had cars in and out of my shed just doing whatever I can help with, wiring, mechanical, bits and pieces. That's what I like. What is it about the auszookers that brings you back for more? I like the information, and I like the amount of guys/girls who are giving even the basic mods a go firsthand. This is what brings forums/communities together, and makes things stronger. What about the auszookers forum would you like to see changed? Some of the opinions that are given out by members. Yes, you may have certain mods that are great for your side of the country, but what about the other side where the terrain/weather/tracks don't resemble the same ? Different strokes for different folks. Now for the million dollar question, who do you select to be the next Z.O.O.M. & why? MadMacca. If you've ever met him at a comp, he's there to talk, to have fun, and to photo. He has some Suzis laying about that would make some drool!. |

Thanks Pete for putting the time in to answer this - I have resized the two LWB pics so they play nice with AZ. A good read, and I feel well deserved given your involvement with the WA comp scene and zook community. Enjoy. |
