Not a custom build, but lots of work to do to it, I picked up this pop top camper the other day for a very good price... it seems to be pretty light, not sure how the jimny would go towing it, I think i will have to get trailer brakes fitted to it before trying that :p

The trailer has a tare weight of 300kg, and an ATM weight of 600kg so i thought this was pretty good when compared to other trailer options

As far as work goes on it.. water pipes need replacing, its fitted with 2x 59L water tanks..both of which have slow leaks... hopefully fix one of them up, not too fussed about carrying nearly 120L of water...

The spare tyre needs replacing... tyres aren't in too bad condition but the rims look pretty banged up... but hey... it was only just over $1200 :p

Other jobs to do...
- Finish patching up a few very small holes/replace a zipper
- Add velcro around the base of camper to seal canvas to body when setup
- dust proof trailer
- Add 2x26ah gel batteries to run the led light strips
- install a cigarette lighter socket and an inverter.
- clean the under body properly with some rust remover and repaint...
- wheel bearings etc etc
- add a solar panel to the roof

Good score mate. You're right about not really needing the 120 litres of water, I'm debating about adding the extra weight to go up to 60 litres in my trailer kit. Not bad little campers though. I've seen these bodies put on heavy duty chassis and dragged through some serious stuff.

That camper is an "A"C"T" brand, my oldies had few of those over the years growing up as a kid. We dragged it all over Fraser holiday after holiday.

Funny you say that LJ50! The guys I bought it off said they took it up to fraser all the time, I can believe them after pulling the back water tank off and discovering a few kg of sand stuck to the top of it!

Hey guys, I recently bought some electric brakes and have tried installing them but I have been having clearance issues unfortunately... the tyres will fit onto the hubs, but when using a drum brake there is not enough room to manover the tyre into position onto the drum vs a standard trailer hub which is much smaller.... The cause of this is the trailer having been converted from running 10" rims as stock standard to now 13" rims... combined with the fact the trailers mud guards are inboard with a steel beam along the outside/infront of the tyres.... Photos below... I am unsure if it would be possible to cut out the steel beam out that runs infront of the tyres... the trailer chassis is more of a caravan design as opposed to a basic trailer chassis design... Does anyone have any ideas or solutions? Thanks

hmm I had been thinking more lift but the only way i can see to do that is by getting an even taller drop axle... the trailer is already sitting too low at the front when connected to the Jimny (no suspension lift)

From the centre of the leave spring bolt - trailer = 16cm, -5cm to measure from the steel of the trailer chassis = only 10-11cm of height in the spring when sitting level :s It is a 5 leaf spring but I would imagine they are very old... Can anyone who has a 4-5 leaf setup please tell me the height difference between the ends of their leave springs vs centre of them please?
