Hi All

Anyone had any 1st hand experience with Timbren Axle less suspension?

I'm toying with the idea of a teardrop build using the 900HD kit with cable disc brakes. The kits are readily available so I'm guessing they sell a few. Just wondering if anyone has used them?

She's right mate. Cable's fine on a light weight teardrop.
In reality you'd likely still be legal with no brakes, so why stuff around with all the extra wiring and shit associated with electric brakes.

Keep it simple when ya can, and spend the grand on something else.

The suspension system is based on the old rubber cone progressive rubber system used on the mini so not new. Should match the teardrop well.

Its doesnt matter how good they are .it the ability to control them from the cab. If the trailer starts to jack knife u can use the trailer brakes to pull the trailer back into line

Also electric handy going down or up hill off road
Override won't be controllable in those situations

Thanks for the feedback

I don't plan on fitting a brake controller to the Jimny as I have a Colorado for the heavy lifting and the cable discs on my Surecraft trailer have been amazing. They're simple, very low maintenance and I know they work thanks to a considerate Commodore driver that thought he'd use the gap I was keeping in front of my fully loaded ute and trailer then slam on his brakes. I honestly thought I'd end up in his back seat, it had been a long trip it had rained most of the way, and when I pulled up at home I also noticed and extra 200mm of water in the 7x4. (Tailgate seal is mint). That said it's a small task to upgrade to electric later if I find I need the extra control.

It is $100 to put a good controller on the trailer and it's more then wort that every time you reverse or actually want working brakes going down steep things. I will never stuff around with override brakes again.

Also sierras and jimnys have a max of 350kg for a unbraked trailer for a good reason so good trailer brakes are important
