hey guys, bit of an idiot as far as motors etc goes.
the missus has got my old jimny and only getting about 260~270km out of standard tank, if lucky... used to get 300+
its the 1.3l single cam, 2inch lift, 215s, steel bullbar, shelves etc.
have changed air filter over, still no real improvement.
what else should i be looking at to potentially improve the fuel consumption??
thanks in advance guys

does the cat converter sound like it's collapsed? give it a bit of a hit & see if it rattles.

How does 260-270 ks equate to Kilometers per liter.
Has your tank have big dents, whatever.
Give fuel an kilometers, then an understanding can be calculated.

ill scope the cat tomoro gus, see how thats sounding. thanks!
havent swapped plugs in my time of owning the car (maybe about 20thouKM)
car has done 153thou, did air filter/engine oil+filter/diff oil at 150thou.. didnt do injector cleaners or anything else... (was the fuel filter in tank on jimny?)
hahaha, yes. gear changes have become standard operating procedure
and i believe that jimny is a 40L tank standard..
definately hasnt aquired and new dents/desizing since the economy has dropped off
edit: haha. mmm, if cars ran on shit, the government would have to create a tax for taking a duuuuump

O2 sensor? Has there been any lights come up on the dash? I know some wimmenz dont really pay attention to the dash
I know i gained a bit better economy after replacing mine, mine had been running rich and killed it but i think they only last around 100,000km anyway?
Someone would know?

Could be dirty injectors, but also like chop said, the lights on the dash etc... My egr valve fucked up and it threw it inti limp mode and chewed a shitload of fuel but you would notice a difference in idling and performance. I'd chuck some injector cleaner in it and see if that works then try u2 sensors etc

no lights on dash chop, just went for a quick burn down to maccas for the friday night hungry man run and its all peachy. i hope that the little i do know and passed on to her will prevent driving with dash lights on hahaha
cool, another possible thing to look at
i reckon ill start with the cheap shit, and work on up from there untill we get some improvement i guess.
thanks chop!

haha, none of that sadly. the old girl hasnt locked hubs for quiet a while. getting harrassed by the fuzz has slowed us down a little, and i hear morgans shut down as far as public access is concerned. pretty frustrating, australias got the best back yard in the world, and we cant even access it.
but yes, lots of rambling just to say tyre pressures are all mint

It's not something silly like always filling it up with $50 or something and the price of fuel has gone up?
I'm sure someone would have done it...

Yep do all the above mentioned checks, and definitely change plugs and fuel filter... its a good idea to run some Injector/fuel system cleaner thru on a regular basis...
Also, and may sound silly... but are you filling up with E10 ?
If not, and you are filling with standard unleaded, switch to Premium, the Zook engine runs much better on it !

i would definatly say change the 02 sensor, it will definatly be the problem if its done a few kms and everything else checks out ok. Gut a scope put up its bum and check the air/fuel ratio i suggest
