On a budget guys have used the gti seats. Baleno seats would work with simple rail mods. Gwagonsteve used some mx6 (I think) seats on one of his builds, and they look very comfy.

Gti seats are sweet. Those crap race seats arent amazing to get in and out of. Quality ones(recaro/sparco) may be different not sure

Any model. I have use 4 or 5 so far. They all sharethe same bolt pattern.
Obviously the huge wrap around race seats won't fit in a sierra or a vitara due to the space issues.
I've got SR-7's in the ute now, but I did have LX-VF's and a slightly older version of the LX-VS's.
I believe Ataris new ( old) recaros are LX-VF's too. Very nice seat!
The SR-7's are like sitting on a cloud, but still a massive PITA to abscond. ANd watch your sack on the way in

I run GTi seats and they're super comfy.
If I had cash to throw about I'd go the recaro's. Remember they come in a lot of different combos. IE, there is 3 different options for how high the sides are (regular, low and high from memory)

Measure them up. If they are much wider than 550 at the base and 500 at the shoulders, they most likely won't fit.

Also.....i wouldn't even look at the new Autotechnica seats as they are absolute rubbish. Had them in my zook i just sold and the fabric started wearing out within a few months
If you get the old Autotechnica seats with good fabric they are a great seat but for the price of the GTi seats you can not go wrong plus they are an easy fit and very comfortable.
How much were your recaro's fatzook?

My mate imports them from Japan from time to time. I've never paid more than $500 a pair. They are from late model japanese sports cars. Might have a se of R35 GTR seats coming soon

Are GTi seats made aftermarket? I'm guessing any wrecker options would be pretty hard to find, not to mention probably needing a retrim.
Looking at getting some nice and tidy seats too. Tossing up between GTi's or retrimming the stock seats to suit. Do GTi's have more seating position options (ie - more than just back tilt like in a Sierra) or is it just the cut that is more comfy?

talking about bucket seats, i've got a pair of these sitting around if anyone is interested in swapping cash for them?
totally practical for a 4wd but they're a great seat for a street/track/drift/rally car

I've sat in those seats and I reckon sitting on a 12" cock would be more comfortable.
Look for some GTI seats first IMO.

I brought some cheap... I pulled them out the same day they were fitted and advertised them for sale. Went seats Very similar to what atari is trying to hock off.

there nothing like pitching into a corner at mach 10 & not having to hold yourself to your seat while trying to steer, the biggest down side to the race seats in street cars it your missus will bitch & moan even more than normal when you ask for road trip gobbies.
FYI seats are no longer for sale.

You'll be suprised at just how tough and durable the GTi seats are. The fabric is very thick and moulded well.
There are no special adjustements on the GTi seats...just the normal recline back however, once you fit the GTi seats you will get more leg room than with the standard seats.
Like i said before...had Autotechnica seats and would neve buy them again for a sierra
You can pickup a very good set of GTi seats for $250-300 for the pair if you hunt around
I looked at the option of upholstering the original Sierra seats but it was going to cost around $600 and i could get 2 pairs of GTi seats for that or some awsome aftermarket ones like Atari pointed out.
It all depends how deep your pockets are
