OK, so today I did a run up to Sunny Coast and back. After 30 minutes each way, it started to smell of burnies. If i turned off the AC, smell went away.
When I got home, left engine running and AC on, red hot ring inside pulley. I now believe that this was caused by the coil overheating. I reckon there must be something wrong in the AC control system, and this would explain why I found that the last coild had melted plastic on the front and the fuse was blown.
So what would cause this?
On the tensioner - repacking all but got rid of, or at least masked the whizzing.
