To be precise ........

To be precise, the G13A block is designed to run a 77mm stroke crank for a 1324cc displacement, while the G13B block is designed for a 75.5mm stroke giving 1298cc. The blocks are different castings to allow the 1.5mm difference in deck height and are NOT a designation of the specific type of head (8V/16V, Carb/Efi, SOHC/DOHC) fitted, although there were only certain combinations factory fitted.

You'll get no argument from me there - I will however point out that the "factory fitted" combinations may vary from one market to the next.

Brenno? jonno_racing??

Good info, I had been misinformed. I was mearly basing my first post on the common terminology used here, to help the original poster.

If you go for the G16A 8V head then get the cam too as it has a little more duration and lift.

Since the bore sizes differ by 1mm if I'm correct, you would be better off using a g16 head-gasket with g16 head on g13 block.

Repco couldn't tell you what engine came in a sierra let alone what head gasket to use, they just punch VIN number into computer and hope for the best.

I think Super Cheap is great they save me heaps. Tell me why it is better to pay $10 more for a bottle of oil at Repco (same brand of oil). Or why a Sidchrome spanner set from TradeTools is better than the same set $26 less at Super Cheap. That is the same for most consumables like filters, spark plugs, radiator coolant, brake fluid, batteries and heaps of stuff, the name brands are usually cheaper and their own brands are cheaper still.

People carry on about Super Cheap as if they are ashamed to say they buy stuff there, seriously I am not too proud to save money. Its a bit like the guys at my work who buy $100 business shirt from Roger David to wear to work, my three business shirts from Lowe's for $30 each will outlast that one shirt and I won't cry when it get ripped or get a stain on it.
