Just did the falc alt upgrade but the one i got didnt have the plug in it so i have just left the 2 wires not connected. It seems to charge ok between 14.8 - 15 V thats all i really care about at present.
So do i have to connect em up?

you dont need to connect the dash light but if you dont connect the signal wire it will over charge and can potentially fry any sensitive electronics you have.
. signal wire needs to show battery voltage so reg cuts in and stops any over charging

corect me if im wrong but the bosch alt off the ford use a 005 reg. so all you need to find is your alt warning lamp wire on your car and put this to the d+ pin on the alt. this will turn the reg on and allow it to regulate. if it has a RE60 reg (two pin reg) it needs both warning lamp and ignition hooked up. RE60 has L and S on it. meaning light and sense

I just cut the plug and, put some crimp connectors on. I'll have alook tommorow and let you know which colour wire goes where.

The bitsashitty EF-EL alt has an inbuilt reg and no D+ or L or S pins on it....
It is also self exciting...
Your 1.3 loom has two wires go to the alt..Just cut the plug off and fit a pair of spade terminals, then plug into alt......
If the alt light doesn't come on with ignition you have them the wrong way around.... Swap and all will be good.
