hi guys
just bought a holden colorado td auto 4x4 for work.
now while at holden doing the paperwork I asked the salesman to have a trans cooler fitted as I tow a fair bit fairly often.
He tells me they dont fit them as holden says they not required?
I tell them I belive it to be a good idea, so he gets a "sevice tech" who tells me the same thing.
Whats the verdict???
I would have thought the bigger the cooler the better??
cheers andrew

just go to a rad or trans shop and TELL them to fit one.
if you think it might be an issue, get the type that has a thermostat in line that only alows fluid to flow when a certain temp is reached

I mainly wanted fitted when they did the bullbar.

it just seems farking stupid that they dont want to fit one even thought the owner is telling then is going to tow a lot of weight and regularly.

best to get it in writing, send them an email describing what you will be doing with the vehicle and ask them to confirm that it does or doesnt need an upgrade etc, make sure they reply via email or in writing, not via a phone call. then if you have warranty issues later on you will have covered your ass

heat is the biggest killer in auto cars!

there might be a good size one on the car alrady and that is why they are saying you don't need one. the wifes car has a huge one on it std and is rated to tow 3500kg braked

what is the braked gcm for it?

3000kg braked towing.
I tow 2000 - 2500 kg fairly regurlarly up to two hour trips.
I had a quick look but didn't see a cooler.

it put a cooler on it if it doesn't have a external one. check about you warranty first. if you have a problem the will do anything not to fix it.

Most autos coming out now have external coolers already fitted. Have a roll under it tomorrow and follow the cooler lines to see where they go.
