Suzuki Sierra.
Standard suzuki diffs. Vitara powersteering box and vitara pump.
No Damper.
Clean Fluid.
A week ago went to the Wattagans, i hit some mud and rock,(roperd) Fairly deep for a suzuki, and since a day after it was sort of locking the steering..The mud was watery and bit of slop on the bottom.
The problem is when i drive i slightly turn left, it used to return to centre by itself if i let the wheel go, Now it wants to drive in the direction i have turned it, by itself. Steering also feels heavy.
Would i be correct that my kingpins will be causing this? full of mud?
Or could it be a PowerSteeringbox/pump issue?
(I need her for sunday!!! ARGH!)
I've never had this problem before.

F'ing Der fred.
It has loosened up to normal. Now.
Yet to test at speed. Because i also had this weird delay in the steering..Heavy steering also. The shackles give me say eg. 1sec delay. then this other delay made it eg.2sec delay
Have also replaced the main steering arm from the drop arm to the diff(forgot name) Hopefully this fixes it as one of the tierods was flogged out..

a boat but there is no delay.

She is like a boat. Especially with the vit ps..
But it did have a delay! Hopefully from the worn tierod/arm. Yet to test on way to work..in 1 hr.

mine used to also have this delay you speak of seemed like you were never gonna turn lol.but right before i sold him i fitted my steering dampener and whilst at it had to tighten my draglink appears it was loose and had play at ball joint, lucky the split pin was in.i never ran it with standard length shackles to see if it made a difference but now that its gone and i have no zook all is well

i had the same issue, wouldnt correct its self and couldnt do a u turn in a t-section the steering was sooo heavy one of my cv's was shot, one hub constantly locked and alot of crap in the front drive-train, bearings were on there way out and i was missing some shims (9) among other things. CHECK THE WHOLE LOT
edit: just realised you fixed your issue, but if it ever happens again check the whole lot !!

Jacked up the car, turned the 2 hubs together without the draglink to the box. Turns like magic.
I then lowered the car onto 2 bits of laminated wood with silicone spray between. 2 for each wheel. Wheels turn easily..
1 thing i have noticed, with the vit ps box, when i got it, i was able to push the drop arm by hand. It is now tight..With the loosening/adjusting screw loose.
I think the box if fooked.
Any other ideas?
The unijoints in the steering column/arm are not seized either. (i have 2) i have hit them with wd40/crc spray.
When i turn the steering wheel, i can feel resistance. (no draglink)
Next option is disconnect ragjoint and test the column movement. If its easy, must be the box..
(Sorry for alot of thinking out loud)
