Like the topic says...

My motor oil is smelly... I not sure exactly what it is, but it has a strong rich maybe petrol smell to it. which can't be right, and it's rather new oil from recent change.

I'm sure you smarty mechanic type people will know.

anyone want to smell my smelly oil? :lol :P

Petrol in the oil is not good. How has it been running? If your fuel pump is stuffed it can leak fuel into the head, which ends up in the sump (oil).

Hasn't been running the best (as per my previous post last week about it being sluggish), cleaned the carby and fuel filter and it seemed to be a bit better.

I noticed the fuel pump has a very slight amount of oil on the little drain pipe thing, but not abundant amounts coming out and no signs of leaks under it.

Had a similar issue early on. Got a length of 8mm washer hose and put it into a drink bottle zippy tied it up and went for a drive. I didn't think it was leaking much either. Caught 250ml in 10km. 8O

This afternoon before I went off I cleaned up the drain, after 100km there was nothing noticeable. (can put my finger on the end and nothing comes out) Will give the hose and bottle a go to double check.

Where is the oil level on the dipstick? Has it risen since the oil change? I'd be sticking a new pump on anyway, easier than rebuilding the engine.

oil level is around 3/4 mark at the moment on the dipstick. Haven't noticed any rises, just gradual decreases whenever I top it up always seems to drop back to 3/4ish.
