Hi my name is joe i am new auszookers . Just had a question i have just put the motor back in my sierra after rebuilding it and wen i turn it over no oil pressure at all. It"s got new oil pump

How do you know??

Take the oil filter off & fill it with oil, this should prime the pump, anytime a new pump is fitted or stripped it is ment to be primed.

Does the eng run??

Hey Joe,welcome to Auszookers,mate are you reading a oil pressure gauge or no oil light?when reassembling the engine did you check the oil pressure relief valve?

that must be it need to prime it. i do have oil pressure gauge.havnt put the leads on to run the motor need oil pressure first.

Ing on, pull the oil wire off the sensor, make sure the light on the dash goes OFF, could also be a dud pressure switch or the wire could be earthed out some where..

So one you screw onto the pressure switch hole??

Have you tryed the oil in filter yet??

How noisy is the eng when winding over?? Is it rattleing it's brain's out??

no haventtryed filling the filter yet will do tomorrow arvo. the engin sounds fine wen winding it over i oiled it well wen i put it back together

Fill the filter, put the lead's on & stert it up, but get ready to shut it down, Have had many a new pump that need's a bit of speed to it to prime.

BE READY TO SHUT IT OFF THO!!!!

hay thanks steknig for your help filled the filter with oil it did the job got oil pressure. but now its not geting fuel i will sort that out tomorrow

Did you put the push rod in the fuel pump??

that happened to a mate of mine we left it in the head wheni it went to the head shop lucky they fished it outa the parts washer for us lol

Or you unbolt a buggered one & hear a "tink" on the starter 7 think nothing of it.

year i put the push rod in. took the fuil pump off it dosent seem to be pumping unless you push it right more than the rod wood push it in. pump must be bugered.

you could have a blockage in the carby. thake the lid off the carby and put you hand over the top cover about 2/3s of it with your hand and have some one crank it over. This will cause extra vacume being put on the fuel being sucked into the carby, It will help clear out the fuel passages on the carby. only keep your hand on there for a few seconds at a time. once it cranks (if it does) slowly take your hand off it. Simple trick but it sometimes works.

you sure you didnt pinch your fuel line? are you sure you got the right line hooked up? are you sure you have fuel in the tank? and the trick I just told you about will work on any carby.

i think the pump is bugered i took it off it pumps but you got to push it in a long way more than the rod wood push it.

I agree. I had my fuel pump off for about a week while I was replacing a head gasket. Moved arm by hand, seemed fine....but wasn't
