| Post subject: | lifting a vitara SWB soft top (HELP needed) |
Hi all i have a 90 vitara SWB soft top with a 2 inch body lift in it. i have read that 180sx rear coils fit in the rear of the vit and give 2-3 inches of lift. would there be problems with lifting the vit this extra 2-3"? and what else do i need to do to fit these in? will i need vs/vr commodore shocks? i was planning on doing a strut mount flip at the front and maybe a 1 inch coil spacer to level it up. would this cause to much strain on cv's etc? does anyone see any problems with this? any opinion is appreciated. i am relatively new to the 4wdriving scene so i am still learning the ins and outs of my vit Thanks simmo |

hey mate, yeah im thinking about doing the same thing. someone else will be able to confirm about the type of shock. For the front end: you will prob need some lifted springs. if you decide to go the spacer and the strut flip, i think u may need some kind of diff drop bracket, which will help with the angle the cv's get to. i would try and find some OME extended struts with lifted springs (lifted king springs roughly $130) with the rear end: it isnt really designed to handle 3" of lift, the trailing arms are a bit short, and the A arm/ heim joint the angles can cause some issues, but ill let someone one with more experience explain that. have you had a search? i have asked similar questions on here before. i will be watching this thread as it will prob answer a few of my questions. hope i helped a bit Mitch P.S welcome to the best suzuki site ever made |

hey mitch thankyou for your reply! it has shed some light on the subject. sounds like it is a bit of mucking around to get that kind of lift in there. i have done plenty of research already but will keep researching. yeah i think im going to have to get the lifted springs and extended struts like you said if i do it. i will keep checking it out thanks for your help. its greatly appreciated |

apparently 180sx springs will get good results but the standard vit springs will probably top out with the extra lift look on outers there is a bible (a lot of bad links) http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic48779.php or skid01 built a good swb vit and tried out heaps of springs http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic546 ... ght=skid01 hey guys have a 1989 SWB Vit ive done a -2 in body lift -2 in lift with spacers on standard springs -commodore shox in the rear out of a vr wagon ( they need a sleeve around the bolt as the commodore bolt is bigger and the suzuki bolt chews out the rubbers / or drill out the existing bottom mounts for the larger commodore bolt) -flipped the front struts -added a rear spacer on the diff to elevate the "A arm" http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/transla ... s&.intl=us or look for bits4vits on ebay he sells them I have some pics on my "rigs thread" http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... pic&t=1192 not sure if i had a problem with CV's cos i had dodgy cvs b4 i started anyways.. hope some of this helps Steve |

Not a good idea to do the strut flip if you are putting in OME's you will find that you will blow CV's all the time. |

thanks fluffy for the info and the helpful links. i think i will be looking into the vr/vs shocks a bit more. they are cheap from wreckers. and the web link to building a spacer on the diff for the 'A arm' is a good one. cheers simmo |
